You know I didn’t think it would hurt so much to let Destiny go. I grew up playing Halo, Mass Effect, so many of the other games I have loved but have since been left to lie, letting a story go, accepting an ending are not new. All of these games had a massive impact on my life, but the beauty of them is I can always go back and enjoy them. Open them up like a well loved book and revisit my favorite moments or memories.
Destiny cannot get the same treatment, our beloved characters, and world will eventually be brought offline without the opportunity for preservation. Bungie has engineered a situation where the games content and playability is impossible to preserve. If anything this highlights why we need to demand better from studios. Studios bringing online a live service game must offer preservation options, not only does the Destiny community deeply love these games but we also are paying customers who invested hard earned money into a well loved product. No studio should have the right to create a game that they can simply remove access to on their own whims.
What is happening with Destiny right now is why we need the Stop Killing Games movement. Studios need to be held accountable. And I would ask the entire Destiny community to put their support not only towards the Destiny development team that is now being laid of by Bungie, a studio which has wasted millions of dollars on incubation projects supported by the flagship IP, that is now cutting its flagship IP off in a doomed attempt to make up costs and putting all of their eggs in the also doomed to fail Marathon bucket, but also throw your support behind the efforts to build greater international support for the Stop Killing Games movement.
Eyes up Guardians, the fight is not over yet, and is much bigger than just Destiny.
