I think I might have depression, but I don’t want to make a big deal out of it unless I seriously need help. I see a lot of kids my age fake depression, and I don’t want to do that. I can’t tell if my symptoms relate to the disease or is just plain adolescents. Can any of you guys tell me if I may need to go see a doctor or if these things are just part of being a teenager?

Symptoms:

Tired but can’t sleep

Crying just by thinking about something

Hair shedding

Weight gain

Lack of motivation

Severe breakouts

Thoughts of suicide (Though I would never do it because of my parents)

Thoughts of self harm (I haven’t done this but I have been close)

Mood swings

Increasing procrastination

Lose of interest in once enjoyable activities

Hyperventilation in uncomfortable or stressful situations
