Generation We
They call us all sorts of different stuff. The most technical, "Generation Y", simply because we succeed "Generation X". Â
One that I like in particular, "Generation We" refers to our great sense of community and team spirit. Â We're highly team oriented, growing up involved in many competitive sports and groups, learning to work well with others and a feeling of group effort.
I can really relate to this. Â I grew up involved in all sorts of extra curricular activities. Â From being in instrumental music for 9 years, to being in various clubs, being on the swim team, representative on ASB, etc, etc. Â I'll get to being called "Generation Me" later but despite what some people may think, we have a strong sense of helping each other out. Â We really do. Â Because we had to work together to achieve a certain goal and that's what we did.Â
Especially for me. It's ingrained in me to think about the whole team and not just myself. Â Which carries over across all aspects of my life. Â My family, my friends, my job.
So when at work, if my colleagues are suffering, and I'm suffering, it hurts. Â We're one unit, working together with a common goal and I feel the need to try to make things better for everyone, because it will affect me too. Â
But I don't want to go into too much detail yet, because I still have some more prefacing to do.
