but i never thought i'd live to see it break...

“Look out there and tell me you don’t see that,” she sighed, following the other girl into the kitchen. “There’s just this weird vibe in town lately, don’t you think?”

Thea did as she asked. “I see darkness, maybe movement. But there are plenty of animals in this town.” Thea laughed. “There has been a weird vibe in this town since the day I became a vampire.”

       “Not on the clock today.” But Riley gave her a smile either ways. “But it’s gotten me pretty far so far.” She looked at the vampire before her. Despite being turned a wolf, she had come to learn things on her own. Always on her own, she never understood the drama between some wolves and vampires. She didn’t care much about it either. “Care to share those nostalgic purposes? Were you a dancer or had a pretty fun time with one?” 

“Disappointing.” Thea added, with a click of her tongue. “Me? A dancer. Lord, no. My father would turn in his grave if I degraded myself for such purposes. But i have come to enjoy watching the past time in my long life.”

Thea blinked, unamused by the joke. She didn’t give out pity laughs. “Somehow, I highly doubt you did that.” She replied, already becoming tired of the conversation. Some people were only meant to be blood bags. She’d established that over so many years. “Yes, death... such a joke. My sides are splitting.” 

I have had a long life, that is a difficult question. Although, i am never happier then when I have a fresh food supply. 

Heartache doesn’t make you happy. No. It’s not. Better to be the one to cause it. 

    SLEEP was something she wasn’t going to get thus why she just preferred to roam about a town she did not know. The bright sunny day from earlier engulfed in darkness and by the night fog. Feeling a cold breeze hit her skin before SHIVERING. “–I should have brought a jacket.” She muttered but soon enough shrugged as if it were something she would get over. The lustrous, dancing stars glinted in the sky, brightening it even more.  Starry nights like these are what she enjoyed the most. “–Wonder if there’s anything open that would sell sweets?” She wondered more to herself 

There was something familiar, about the young human’s scent. Something almost sweet. She tilted her head, watching the mortal shiver. “Sweets?” She asked, scrunching up her brows. “How odd.” She commented. “Perhaps, a jacket would be of more used to you now. You may catch a cold, and it may develop into something worse and you could die. So fragile. Such a waste of... something.” She yawned, she was off her game. She couldn’t argue with that. But lately she’d been so distracted. 

           “Bar is closed for another hour.” Riley mused over at them. “And dancers will be out in about thirty minutes… unless you’re here to look for someone specifically.”  She questioned. 

“Now now darling, that attitude will get you nowhere in life. Haven’t you heard of service with a smile?” She laughed at her own words. “Let’s say, I am here for nostalgic purposes.”

“I uh… there’s… a suspicious looking shape in the garden… a body shape… that’s not from me.” She pointed, though despite her age, she was in shock. “Is someone messing with me?”

“I think you’re becoming paranoid in your old age, my darling.” The walked across the kitchen fearlessly, helping herself to a glass. 

“You don’t need to tell me, I know,” he laughed, enjoying the moment, though he’d never admit that to her. “Sweaty and manly?”

She quirked her eyebrow. “Oh darling, your blood is far better then that.” 

He nodded. She was an old witch and a woman of great age, he had respect for her. “You understand the dangers and the fine line of magic?” He looked up at her. “Really? Do you stand here a vampire due to the darkness of magic?”

Thea rubbed her red lips together. “I love and respect magic, yes. If that is what you are asking me.” She enjoyed the attention of this magic man, that she couldn’t deny. It was the closest she had been to magic, in a long time. “I stand here a vampire, because my mother used her magic to save my life. If that is darkness, then yes. I do.”

“My dead heart beats only for you.” She rolled her eyes “In all honestly, for once I did not come here for you. Although i will admit smelling you here was tempting.”

The blonde nodded, she was serious. “Yes. I want to. You’re right. I’m an independent woman and I’m ready to explore this world. I want to. You don’t make me uncomfortable. You never have. I have great respect for you.”

“very well.” She nodded her head. “If you truly wish to attend, i will not stop you.” She held out her arm once again. “Come this way before the rain starts again.”

Despite his general distaste for vampires, Cailan had to respect one as old as the woman in front of him. She had lived a long life like himself. “I am sure, your age shows how smart and efficient you are. The vampire does not bother me. But he has powers that he could do great damage with.”

She shrugged her shoulders. “I was once a witch. A know how important things like this can be and well... I like to make myself aware of all the goings on.” She looked at her nails. “The boy should be free to choose his own path, not one the fae thing is best. That I believe.”

“Walking behind a person for several blocks?” he half laughed. “Though we both know you’re obsessed with me,” he joked a little.

“I wasn’t walking, i was running.” She joked. “Oh, it pains me to even be away from you mortal.”
