Here's a poem I made, directly translated from French, for this little Red fox I couldn't save last summer, because it's still legal to hunt them in France :
Just to remember, Of your frightened gaze, Innocent of our countryside, Misfortune is by your side.
Ally of culture, But hunted for its nature, This young defenseless creature Deserves his deliverance.
Forgive me, fox, I bear this heavy burden, For not being able to free you, I can only weep for you.
Red fox (Vulpes vulpes) Picture took in Poland, Tatras national park
I actually caught 52 species of birds in Luxembourg so I won't be able to post them all here. But still, here are 5 more !
- Lesser whitethroat (Curruca curruca)
- Barn swallow (Hirundo rustica)
- Eurasian blue tit (Cyanistes caeruleus)
- Aquatic warbler (Acrocephalus paludicola)
- Tree pipit (Anthus trivialis)

This is my first clean Red squirrel (Sciurus vulgaris) photo I took in Warsaw, during my first Polish experience. They're famous in Łazienki Park, Chopin's famous park in central Warsaw. I was surprised by the greenness of this capital city, almost destroyed by the Second World War, it knew how to take natural spaces into account during its reconstruction.
The fire salamander (Salamandra salamandra) is a funky little amphibian that I love seeing. The adult gives birth to live youngs instead of eggs. Its skin is colored and signal that they are poisonous. This colored pattern is quite unique and you can identify individuals thanks to this. For a long time, we thought that salamander were immune to fire or even born in it. That's why so many coats of arms show a salamander in flames. It was even the symbol of kings (like François the first in France).
When I saw this little salamander I was having a lesson in pedology in a forest but I couldn't hear it and just spent 20 minutes following it around.

This cottony mass which reminds us of a strange mushroom is actually a mass of scale insects. Ants love these insects because they secrete a sweet honeydew after feeding on the plant that hosts them. These scale insects are probably mealybugs, with their woolly appearance, and, just as aphids, only males have wings (which can be seen here). The ants colony has established itself in another tree located 2 meters away, in which they have dug their galleries. These are most likely Lasius fuliginosus, in other words jet black ants, which establish themselves in tree trunks.
