I am a funni rain world animator but my blog mainly revolves around my rain world characters, I think about them all a lot and I love them very dearly. Fanart of them always makes me very happy no matter what [UNLESS ITS NSFW DONT DO THAT SHIT] I don’t care if you’re a mutual, a follower or a random blog I’ve never seen before. I think watcher is one of the most unique and interesting slugcats we have a campaign on currently

I think this story is kind of hard to talk about because it’s like very vauge and left up to interpretation and shit but most of rain worlds lore is like that anyways

I like the interpretation of watchers story where it’s about her trying to find companionship after the death of its family, I like spinning top, prince is okay and I found weaver pretty memorable because of their design and “CONSIDER” becoming a regular part of my vocabulary

Another thing about this campaign is that’s it’s really freaking long, most slugcat campaign stories can be told in a single sentence but this campaign takes up a whole dlc so you know it’s compensating, this makes watcher feel more? Idk fleshed out than the other scugs it almost felt like it was given multiple acts with the whole 1.5 update giving us pause between the two other endings.

I think what I like most about the story is that watcher feels like they have agency, following spinning top feels like it’s her choice, in princes storyline, you can literally choose to not spread the rot if you don’t want to, and weaver… I dunno I guess they aren’t telling watcher to go around curing the rot.

mostly, I’m really glad watcher isn’t just a boring messenger character in this dlc and that’s mostly because iterators don’t even appear in this entire campaign outside of the lore pearls telling us about BOG and maybeee signal spires being part of an iterator superstructure? I mean I still wish we got to see unparalleled innocence…

talking outside the game, watcher is a pretty fun character to use in fan content, its personality feels well defined to me and it didn’t take me that long to come up with headcannons for her. I like the character, she’s endearing.

ok ok but fr, judge wins no doubt, their ascension abilities may not be as effective on non-rot beings but they are in fact a carnivore, meaning they would have experience with fighting predators and whatnot, judge also has telekinesis adjacent powers, similar to guardians in-game. Not to mention that even if I don’t think the ascension beam can necessarily kill non-rot things I still imagine it could do some damage, like a stun or something

Oh god no, they’re way too detached to other slugcats to have a friend, let alone a partner, Saint too for that matter. They just both have an air of “I have a job to do I don’t have time for this bs” since they’re dead set on their goals and fulfilling their purpose and all that.

This is a slugcat that appears at the beginning cutscene of watchers campaign and the one and only action this character takes is murdering watchers sibling and parent and then they never appear or get mentioned ever again.
