The first time you touched, his hands were rough. Calloused and chapped. Each ridge held a story quietly on display. A thorn too deep in a flower bush, wrestling with Inanna, or maybe a splinter or three sanding wood? They weren't really noticable unless you touched, which gradually increased throughout you all's journey. You watched as the once reserved, impassive man became a lot more outspoken and a lot more touch prone. It was cute, you had to admit, and honestly appreciated. While Asra wasn't touch avoidant per se, his constant adventures left the shop a bit empty. Many of days you'd feel the repercussions. Now, barely an hour can pass without some type of contact. He tries to be nonchalant about it, but you can't help but notice the fraction of a smile blooming onto his face whenever you do. Today was no different.
You felt warmth in the small of your back. It grew as his thumb rubbed gentle circles in rhythm with a small tune you're humming. "Hmm?" It was more of an acknowledgement than a question, but it left room if anything needed to be said. You felt him lean in. His stubbly chin rested on your head looking over the drafts sprawled out before you. New recipes, layouts, and restocks waited in anticipation to be applied to the shop. Asra insisted he had to go out of town for "one more item", and asked if you could check in. There was no possible way you could say no, so of course that meant recording everything that needed to be fixed since the battle. While there were little casualties, many buildings were damaged. It'd been 2 years since, yet much needed to be restored and renewed. Nadia insists you all have done enough, and should rest while she facilitates construction, though you find a way to help with enough persistence. Inspired by the city's rebuilding, Asra had decided the shop needed a rebrand as well. "For new beginnings!", he said.
A soft hand guided your face to the side. The ridges were still present, but smoothed down. You wondered if it was because there was less to do or less he needed to do. A small smile tugged at the end of your lips as you felt his on your forehead. "You're doing too much." His voice vibrated off of your back.
"I think I'm doing just enough." His hands moved towards your shoulders, slightly applying pressure. A small shiver ran up your spine. There was an ache present; You suddenly became aware of the dull pain in your knees and the strange sensation of your back, having hunched over for hours. "That's.... new. It's just that-"
"You need to rest?"
"No... I was gonna say it's just this new spell."
"And you should break." His hands moved back down your back, now at the waist. It was awfully hard to focus, especially with kisses peppering your cheek and neck.
"You're cheating. This isn't a fair fight..." He said nothing, but you felt his smile in the crook of where he rested. He'd won. You knew that. You also knew you should think of a new defense if besting him would ever be an option. That was a later thought though. He enveloped you into his arms, now fully incapable of escape. What's worse, you could not deny the joy and relief felt from his sneak attack. There was a light scent of myrrh radiating off of him that just begged for you to explore. Reaching a hand over, you guided his face to connect with yours. Perhaps you were just as needy. The mere idea that your future wouldn't have the man before you seemed absurd. He'd wiggle himself into your life just as you did his. The early mornings of him getting you up for the shop, the ever growing collection of trinkets lining the walls, and his determined on correcting your sleep schedule. To whomever, maybe the Arcana, you were eternally grateful to have Muriel in your life.

This Native American Heritage Month I want to spread awareness for MMIWG2S crisis, the crisis of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two Spirits.
This post has facts, resources to learn more, and includes links with ways to help, although I hope as you read more you realize how much spreading awareness could leave a huge impact as it would create even more help, protections, and resources.
Did you know that indigenous women, girls, and two spirits are murdered and go missing at such high rates that both the USA and Canada have declared it a crisis and epidemic?
In some places they are murdered, assaulted, and go missing at 10x the national average?

May 5th is the National Day of Awareness for MMIWG2S in the USA. In Canada it falls on the same day and it's referred to as Red Dress Day.
Red is a sacred color to indigenous peoples. As such is the color we use to raise awareness for our women, girls, and two spirits that have come under harm.
We use both red dresses and a red handprint over the mouth to raise awareness. So if you see these symbols please pay them their proper respect. They are not to be used in cosplay or costumes nor are they to be mocked or appropriated.
You'll also find the phrase "No more stolen sisters" in discussions about MMIW. This is a phrase specifically intended to raise awareness and bring attention to the MMIWG2S crisis and it shouldn't be applied to anyone except indigenous women, girls, and two spirits.

For Native and Indigenous communities, 'No More Stolen Sisters' calls attention to Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women.
Along with all these facts I wanna ask you to look up infamous cases of MMIW. Look up Savanna Greywind and look up "Search the Landfill." And please check out this link that covers the legal "loophole" that allows tribal women to be assaulted without any hope for their non-native abusers being held accountable.
Let the horror that some native and first nations women go through fuel your desire to become an advocate for the MMIWG2S epidemic. Sit with us in solidarity and acknowledge the scope of the systemic injustices being done against us.
