Relationships:

My father is a very strict man and doesn't tend to show his affection often. It is for a very good reason as he is not only king but in charge of the entire cycle of life, death, and rebirth and must follow strict rules or very bad things could happen. One slight misstep could throw the whole world off balance. As such he is very strict with us to make us follow those rules. He does love us, he just shows it through much smaller actions then he does with larger affections or words. He will frequently leave us little gifts in our rooms when we’ve been away a particularly long time or give us breaks away from what we do if we experience a particularly “rough patch” (in my case either preventing ‘wrong’ births or a lack of births and in Olivia’s incredibly frequent deaths). Our father is not an emotional man but we’ve been with him so long we can tell how he feels through the slightest of changes. Most particularly when his frown is a little deeper and he looks a little older it means that he is sad or disappointed that he must punish us for breaking a rule whether it was knowingly or unknowingly. Usually, after this, we also get a small break to recuperate as punishments are quite severe fitting the severity of breaking the rules. I love my father more than anything despite his lack of affection because I don't need him to show how much he loves hs to know he does.

Relationships:

Jake is quite the funny dog and very helpful too. I usually go to him for advice instead of Olivia because she is quite bleak about everything. He is much more balanced, not too pessimistic and not too optimistic and it helps me think things through more to hear it put in such a way (even if it doesn't always make sense). I particularly like to cook or garden with him as I always end up laughing too hard by the end of it. He gets really concerned whenever I tag along on adventures because I don’t tend to want to fight the creatures and can very easily get hurt because I won’t defend myself. He is frequently the one arguing against my going with him and Finn and is usually the one who ends up having to patch me up. I shouldn’t but I find it very funny when he freaks out the way he does as he usually over exaggerates and overreacts. He is also usually the first or second to freak when I get kidnapped by Ice King and won’t hesitate to rush to my rescue like the loyal friend he is. I do consider him one of the closest friends I’ve ever had. I suppose that's why I’ve befriended a few of his past lives as well.

Relationships:

Olivia tends to look down on my befriending of people through their lifetimes. She thinks it hurts me to have to start our relationships all over again even if insist otherwise. I know it’s just because she’s looking out for me and she wants me to be happy but she needs to start worrying about her own problems instead of pushing them away to deal with me. Outside of that the only other thing we fight about are near death experiences. She hates them because they’re a complete toss-up as to which one of us is needed but I think it’s exciting so I usually have to stop her from just ending it for them. She thinks its a waste of time waiting to find out if they’ll die and go to her or be reborn, in a sense, and go to me. Outside of these arguments, we get along quite well. It isn’t as if we talk to each other about everything or know everything about each other it’s more that we trust each other enough that we would feel comfortable telling each other anything even if we don’t. We know just what to say to each other and we can read each other with just a few looks. Olivia usually knows the difference between when I’m really happy or when I’m forcing myself to be but even she makes mistakes, after all, I’ve had centuries of practice. I know one thing that aggravates her about me (as it does everyone else) is my refusal to fight to the point of not fighting back when being attacked unless I deem it absolutely necessary. We are definitely more affectionate toward one another than our father is toward us and I am definitely the most affectionate out of the three of us by a long shot.

Marcy is an odd case, to say the least. She is both alive and dead yet neither! It’s very confusing but also quite exciting! I suppose that’s why Liv is dating her. Though another reason might be that she is immortal and she won’t ever have to worry about losing her to old age. Marcy is really laid back and is very fun to hang out with. Her pranks are very amusing and her music very entertaining. She has been trying to teach me to play guitar and so far I’ve managed to learn a few chords but I have a wandering mind sometimes and it can be hard to teach. I like to join in on her pranks (especially those against Bubblegum) and, according to Marceline, I have a very creative mind to “put our pranks over the edge of hilarity”. I don’t spend as much time with her as Olivia (they are dating) but I would say we are pretty close.

Relationship:

Finn is very awkward and very sweet. He gets very flustered around girls and just doesn’t understand how to talk to them. He doesn’t understand how his actions can affect others at first. He is very kind and very loyal to those he cares about and would do absolutely anything to put a smile on their face. Finn apparently (according to Jake) had a crush on me for a while before he plucked up the courage to confess his feelings to me and had planned out this whole adventure that went awry to do it. Even though the whole thing went topsy-turvy Finn still managed to confess, though it was completely out of frustration and by accident. Finn has always been quite protective of me and it increased quite a bit when we started dating. He always looks out for me and “scopes the area for bad guys” and he has a habit of trying to show off to impress me even though he already does that by just being him. Olivia claims that we are so cute it’s disgusting but I tend to ignore her as I’m very happy with our relationship. Finn, like Jake, tends to overreact and over exaggerate when I get hurt or kidnapped or something of that nature, which I find a bit odd considering he’s usually all for me joining in on adventures which directly cause those things to happen to me most of the time. Of course, as with Jake, I have met Finn’s past lives and have befriended them in the past and fallen for a few as well. He always seems to draw me no matter who he is. It’s sad to watch them die, as I know everyone is meant to someday, but I find solace when I get to meet them again in their next life even if they do not know me anymore. I have loved Finn for a very long time and I suppose I always will.

Relationships: Our mother cares about us very much, but I don’t think she realizes how much she actually neglects me. They never pay attention to me because they’re always so focused on Keade. It’s like what I do doesn’t even matter to them and I just don’t even think they see me half the time. They always get really mad at me when I point this out because they say that I’m being selfish but I don’t know how they can not see it. I try so hard to get noticed - I work really hard but I’ll never get them to see me.

Relationships: Our dad loves us, that much is clear but he always seems really nervous and just goes along with whatever our mother is saying. He doesn’t ever really argue with her. “Aiko-chan, Hiro-kun, where is Kaia-chan? Did she not come to school?” I questioned.

The girl glanced up from her conversation while Akihiro rolled his eyes and sighed, “Hmm? Oh! She’s taking some time down at the lockers for whatever reason,” she grinned at me before looking at Hiro and giggling.

It was my turn to sigh and roll my eyes as I left to retrieve her. How could they just leave her down there? Who knew what disgusting people were trying to steal her precious time down there? I huffed at the thought and ignored the nervous glances and hateful glare of students as walked down to the locker room once more. Another reason I came to school to avoid this mass of morons.

I stopped at the door spying her not by her locker but mine. I ducked behind the wall to watch her. Her face was flushed and she looked nervous. Was she sick? She glanced around but didn’t seem to notice me before she reached into her bag pulling out a slip of paper and pushing it into the slots of my locker with shaking hands. What could she possibly be doing? She didn’t have to use a note to communicate she could simply ask me anything.

She scurried out of the room quickly rushing off to class with her head ducked low, completely missing me standing by the door. I watched her reach the stairs and rush up them before walking quickly over to my locker and opening it. I caught the little bit of paper as it fluttered out eagerly reading the words her pretty hand had written for me.

Meet me at the big sakura tree on the hill behind the school after classes today. You know the one.

The one behind the school… but that was the confession tree and it was Friday. She couldn’t possibly be… my heart skipped a beat at the thought but she couldn’t be confessing to me. I was a demon, Sure, she gave me pity and blessed me with her smile but she would never love me. She must just not realize what day it is and wanted to study underneath it. She did find it pretty after all.

I sighed with that thought in mind and headed back to class. By the time I arrived she was sitting in her seat next to mine unpacked and ready for class. I took my seat by her and chose not to address the meeting. Kaia sent me a small smile before ducking her head to look at the sketchbook on her desk. It was odd not to talk to her before classes but I suppose for now I would deal with it.

A few minutes after I took my seat sensei began class. As usual between taking notes I found myself glancing at the beautiful girl beside me who vigorously took her own notes. I found it harder than usual to focus on the lecture as I thought about why she had suddenly chosen to meet under that tree instead of meeting in the park or at her home as we normally would. She could be oblivious from time to time but could she really not know about the tradition of confessing under that tree? But what else could it be? She would never confess to me of all people. I kept bouncing back and forth between this thought and others, completely losing track of the lessons.

“Sensei! May I leave a few minutes early? I’m really not feeling well suddenly!” Kaia’s voice sounded from beside me. My eyes snapped to the clock and I was surprised that my mind had been occupied nearly the whole day. As sensei nodded for her to leave I was concerned. If she didn’t feel well why did she want to meet me? I glanced at Aiko who was grinning at her as she rushed out and felt angry. How could she be happy when her sister was sick? Was she not really sick? That had to be it so then what was happening? I tapped my foot waiting for dismissal so I could find out just what was going on.

As soon as we were dismissed I threw my things into my bag and rushed out the classroom and to the back of the school, ignoring whispered insults as I passed other students. Kaia was leaning against the trunk of the large tree with the petals of the sakura blossoms flowing around. I paused to take in the scene, somehow she looked even more beautiful than normal with her flushed face and fidgeting fingers. My gaze snapped around, no one else should be allowed to see this sight, I’d have to punish them if they dared look too long. Seeing no one paying attention I rushed up to the tree.

“What is going on, Kaia? You said you didn’t feel well but you still wish to meet me?”

“Oh! Um… I just said that to get here before you…” She looked down as she quietly answered. Why was she acting so strange?

“Why? We could have just walked together?”

She shrugged, “I guess I did sort of feel off… I’m really nervous.”

“Why? Do you need help?” I was beginning to grow concerned, was something bad happening?

“No! I just... U-um” She gulped and reached into her bag, “H-here!” she thrust a little envelope at me. My heart thudded this couldn’t be what I thought it was? I looked back at her to find she was covering her red face and backed away a few steps. I peeled back the little heart sticker that held the letter closed.

I don’t know how to write one of these… I’ve never had to before but mom says I should just speak from the heart, that shouldn’t be too hard right? Well, I guess it is a little because I’ve never really liked anyone like this before. Yep! I know it’s a little unexpected (though Aiko says it was kinda obvious) I really like you Ren and I have no idea how to tell you so I decided to just write it down. You make me really happy and when you smile (which you need to do more) I feel all warm inside. I know you hate them but I think your eyes are probably my favorite thing about you! I think they’re the prettiest I’ve ever seen, they look like just like shining rubies! I think Rubies are my favorite stone now... I like how calm you are (especially compared to me) and how much you help me or are just there whenever I need you. I like the sound of your voice when you read to me and how you’ll sit and let me draw you for hours or listen to my babbling like it’s actually interesting. I like how smart you are and how charming you are and I just like you. I don’t know if I’ll ever give you this letter I just wanted to write something down to get it off my chest but Aiko says I should give it to you under the confession tree. I guess you’re guaranteed to like me back if I do? It’s silly but she’s Aiko. And if you’re reading this that means I did. So, Ren I really really like you… Do you like me?

I stared at the letter for quite a bit longer than I really should have. This had to be a dream. She didn’t like me. She couldn’t like me! I was a demon and she was an angel... I pinched my arm. It stung so this couldn’t be a dream and Kaia would never joke like this… so she liked me. My maple blossom actually had feelings for me. What do I say? I was frozen in place.

“...R-Ren-kun?” her nervous voice was so quiet I could barely hear it. I slowly looked at her. She looked so shy and nervous and her face was so red it was adorable.

“Kaede… You?” what a stupid question but my body was not functioning. My brain was not communicating with my mouth and my eyes seemed to sting. She looked away as she nodded. I finally seemed to have control as I yanked her into a tight hug burying my face in her neck to hide the fact that I may have had a few tears in my eyes.

James Potter: I was completely convinced that James hated me simply for the house I was sorted into. He made many jokes at my expense, taunted me for the longest time. And just about thought I was the most evil person in the world until he got to know me. He realized I’m different than the others in my house, this doesn’t mean that he trusts me. But I think he’s warming up to me. He defends me from those that would harm me. One day - someone took their joking a bit far and hurt me...they were calling me a mudblood and throwing so many words that we couldn’t tell who threw the first hex. But the minute he saw I was hurt later that day, I heard him mumbling and the next day the group that was bullying me looked rather roughed up. A few of them had some pretty nasty bruises. Turns out they had an accident on the moving stairs. At least thats what James told me when I asked.

Remus Lupin: Remus like the rest of the group had a hard time accepting me at first. But as he fell for my sister and started hanging around her he in turn started seeing me around more often. I remember the first time he laughed at something I said and it wasn’t because he thought it was stupid but because he thought it was funny. He later like the others realized that I wasn’t as terrible as every other member of my house. When I got kicked out of my houses living quarters in third year, for the 4th time (It happened a lot), he helped me find the room of requirement so I could stay there instead. I originally just slept in the hall, but he didn’t think it was safe and told me to go there instead. The first truly kind thing he ever said to me was “I’m starting to realize that the Slytherins might hate you as much as we do, It’s kind of pathetic and I really don’t want to have anything in common with them, so I’m going to be your friend.”

The pawn’s face was flushed with horror and he stumbled to his feet yanking the dagger out in the process. Dee allowed her sword to clatter to the ground as she dropped to her knees clutching her profusely bleeding wound trying to staunch the blood.

“I-I’m-” the young soldier stuttered before bolting and leaving Dee to bleed.

“Dee! Come on! Where are you!?” Chess called again sounding closer than he had. Dee began to choke on the pain as she tried to force herself to call for him. Luckily, at that moment Chess turned the corner, “What the hell?! I’ve been screaming your name for- what’s wrong?!” he cut off his rant when he noticed the position she was in and rushing to her side.

“S-stabbed,” she choked out trembling from the pain.

“Oh shit! Shit! What happened?!,” he hissed, his eyes met her pain filled glare, “Right, stupid question.”

As he finally locked on the quickly spreading bloodstain horror seized his heart, he needed to get her out of here before she bleed to death or someone else found them to finish the job. He wrapped his arms around her pushing his hands over her own pushing down on the wound, “This is gonna hurt,” he warned before teleporting them out of the maze.

Dee let out a strangled yelp of pain when they landed against a tree the maze still in sight. He quickly hushed her as she started to choke and sputter on blood that started drip from her lips, “SHIT, they got you deep!” he licked his lips.

Dee needed help fast and the only way he was going to get that was if he got her to the White Castle, he had absolutely no medical experience, which meant teleporting all the way there. He’d already used up so much magic in that fight, he’d never teleported long distance multiple times in rapid succession and it would hurt like hell for Dee but he wasn’t going to let her die.

Chess held her a little tighter, “Hold on!” he called as he teleported them again. They landed somewhere in a forest. Chess was panting as he clutched onto the now crying and trembling girl, “I know, shh, I’ve got you,” he whispered stroking her hair.

“C-Chess!” she choked before a few more drop of blood fell down her chin.

“Don’t talk! Save your energy,” he was determined to do everything he could to save her, “Okay? You're gonna be okay. I’m here, I love you and I’m gonna make sure you’ll be okay,” he attempted to calm her before he moved them again and recuperate himself. However long they rested could not have been long but it still felt too long. Chess took a deep breath, “I’m gonna move us,” he announced. Once he felt her nod he teleported them to the border of the forest.

This time Dee crumpled against him no longer able to hold her own weight. Chess ignored the pain now blooming in his lower stomach to readjust and support her support her with a, “Woah!” He attempted to keep both of his hands on her wound as her’s fell as he tried to reassure her through his desperate pants.

He leaned them against a tree to catch his breath, “Okay, one more time.”

“No! I-I can’t!” Dee squeaked breathlessly and weakly.

He flinched at the pain in her voice, “Yes, you can! You have to,” his voice cracked as he tried to console her. He didn’t give her time to think and he teleported them just outside of the castle, “Dee, we made it! Just a little more,” he mumbled in relief, “Dee?” it did not last long, however, as Dee had finally lost consciousness. “DD?! NO! Come on! Wake up!” He moved one of his hands to hold her face and shake her, smearing blood across her cheek. He took a deep breath to teleport them directly to the infirmary but pain seared through him and he fell to his knees. He repositioned her in his arms quickly and started running.

When he reached the infirmary he started shouting, “Blanche! BLANCHE! HELP!”

The White Rabbit came running, “Oh, sweet tea! What HAPPENED? MASON!”

“She was stabbed! Now, help her!” Chess begged.

Mason rushed over and took Dee from The Cheshire Cat’s arms and laying her on a cot, “Blanche go get our emergency tools and a lot of towels! Chess you need to leave, You won’t want to see this,” Mason ordered. Blanche rushed to comply while Chess hesitated. He glanced from his lover to Mason before nodding, he didn’t have the energy to argue anyway and rushing out to the hall.

He closed the door, sat on the floor and finally let himself cry. He hadn’t cried for years but he was terrified of losing her. He had finally let someone into his heart after so long and he wasn’t so sure he could handle losing someone else he loved. He clutched his knees to his chest silently letting tears roll down his cheeks as he stared the wall. He tried to calm himself, she would be fine with Blanche and Mason but he couldn’t get her bloody image or her pained voice out of his head. He didn’t know how long he had sat there before he heard the footsteps but it had certainly felt like hours.

“Cat! What happened?! We heard you were back and that something was going on but no one could tell us what!” Hattie rushed out as turned the corner with Dum. Instead of answering Chess dropped his knees showing the blood that had soaked into his vest, “Oh dear! Are you okay!?” Hattie showed a rare example fo panic on his face.

“It’s not mine,” he whispered hoarsely. Dum's face lost all of its color at that and Hattie covered his mouth in shock.

“Then, is it…?” Dum couldn’t finish the question but Chess nodded nonetheless, “NO! YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO PROTECT HER! HOW COULD YOU LET THIS HAPPEN?!” She immediately began to sob and accuse him. Her mind was on one thing: what she had screamed so long ago when they were fighting,  I HOPE YOU AND YOUR FUCKING GIRLFRIEND GET SKEWERED BY THE NEXT RED PAWN YOU SEE!! Oh God, she hadn’t meant it!

Anger flared in his chest, “LET?! YOU THINK I LET THIS HAPPEN?! WE WERE AMBUSHED! WE WERE UNPREPARED! WE WERE SEPARATED! DO YOU THINK FOR EVEN A SECOND IF I HAD A CHOICE THAT SHE WOULD EVER BE HURT LIKE THIS?!” he screamed dissolving into sobs. Dum rushed into Hattie’s arms and they sat beside him. Dum and Hattie whispered words he drowned out while he cried, “Please, be okay…”

“Don’t look now but I think Feathers has spotted us.” James snickered.

“Padfoot! Prongs you-” Remus hissed as the girl looked up and started packing her things. The group of friends immediately began to run shouting wishes for good luck over their shoulders, “Hey! No! What are you-! Come Ba- Hey, Carmen,” he stuttered.

The girl in question rolled her eyes holding her charms book to her chest, “You idiots aren’t trying to pull some stupid prank on me, right?”

“Wha-? N-no! Of c- of course not!” he stumbled.

“You don’t sound so sure of yourself,” she replied moving one hand to her hip, “I swear Rem if-”

“We’re not! They were just… helping me with something,” he mumbled his eyes finding the ground.

She softened and cocked her head, “Oh, if that’s the case is there anything I can do to help?”

Remus’ head snapped up, “Yes! Yes, as a matter of fact, you can,” he wouldn't pass up the opportunity she handed him.

“Great! What can I do?”

“First,” he glanced around self consciously, “we need to go somewhere more private.”

“Oka- Woah!” Remus grabbed Carmen’s wrist and began dragging her into the castle and into what he referred to as “their place” AKA the kitchens.

Carmen was completely taken aback by Remus’s actions. What could he have possibly needed that warranted him dragging her around the castle? He almost looked panicked as he finally got them behind the portrait door.

“Remus! Jeez, how important could this be?”

“Trust me, it’s important,” he sighed, “You have to hear me out okay?”

“Yeah, I said I would,” taking the chance to shove her book into her bag. An elf rushed up to her side and offered to take her bag to her room. She nodded, handing off her bag and thanking the elf.

Remus closed his eyes and took a deep breath, “We’ve been friends for a long time now and um…” he opened his brown eyes to look at her curious baby blues, “u-uh you know my darkest secret and you… you’ve done so much. Um…” he groaned rolling his eyes “This is stupid!’”

“You’ve barely said anything!” Carmen chuckled, “and so far I wouldn’t say it’s stupid just a little awkward. Keep going.” she smiled encouragingly.

He gulped and licked his lips, “Okay… I-I, You… ugh! Okay, first I want to thank you.”

Her eyes widened slightly, “For what?”

“For being there for me, for keeping my secret, for not running when you found out I was a monster, for encouraging me when I get frustrated like right now,” he began ranting.

“Remy...”

“No, just, wait, please. Let me get this out,” the brunette nodded her head quietly, “Thank you… again. I-I just,” the blonde boy sighed and began pacing, “I know I don’t deserve any of it. I know you’ll say I do but I just can’t believe a monster like me deserves someone like you or anyone really. I don’t deserve your kindness or your smile or your time but I’m selfish and I want it. I know that you probably, more than likely, don’t have any kind of romantic feelings for me but I just can’t bottle this up anymore! I-”

“Rem-”

“I really, really like you and I know that no one could love anyone with my condition-”

“REM-” “I’m a monster and this isn’t Beauty and The Beast but I-”

“REMUS!” Carmen shrieked and threw herself at him, tossing her arms around his neck and his flying around her waist to catch her, “You are the DUMBEST smart guy I’ve EVER met. DON’T talk about yourself like that EVER again!”

“I-”

“No!” she pulled away to look into his eyes, “You’ve had your chance to talk and now it’s my turn. First of all, you are NOT a monster and you deserve every bit of love and friendship we give you and I never want to hear you say you don’t! Second, you are amazing! You are the smartest wizard at Hogwarts, you’re funny, you’re sweet, you’re strong and you’re so much more than your curse,” the blue-eyed girl’s face flushed, “and who are you to say I don’t like you? You obviously don’t pay much attention to me because I definitely have feelings for you.”

“You… like me?” he questioned. Carmen nodded, “Wait, really?”

“Yes! You idiot!” she laughed before hugging him again.

Remus hugged the girl just as tight, closing his eyes to remember the moment before asking, “So, you’ll go to Hogsmeade with me on the next trip?”

“Definitely” she grinned up at him. There was a sudden crash near the doorway to the kitchens and the young couple turned, “What was that?”

“No idea” Remus mumbled before glancing at the girl and laughing.

OUTSIDE THE KITCHENS

“Our little Moony is growing up” James Potter spoke as he tugged off his invisibility cloak to reveal a group of three teens.

Olivia had a hand clamped over her mouth to muffle the sound of her whimpers as tears streamed down her face, “That was one of the most beautiful and sappy things I’ve ever seen,” she squealed.

“We could’ve kept watching if you hadn’t stumbled Prongsy,” Sirius grumbled crossing his arms with a pout.

“Hey! The snake pushed me!”

“I did not!”

“We’re probably missing a great makeout session!” Sirius whined.

“Ew! Then I’m glad we left” Olivia cringed.

“Come on, let’s leave the happy couple. We can tease them mercilessly later,” James grinned walking away with his two friends following behind him, coming up with ways to embarrass the new couple.

“Haru!” Corrine stood in the doorway, skin pale, eyes wide and her lips pulled tight into a frown, “I need you to come here, now!”

Owen looked between his parents, “...mommy?”

“Owen stay here, okay?” Haru asked. He stood and followed his wife back to Cameron’s room, “You haven’t woken him up, yet?” the boy was still fast asleep, though now his sheets were tossed on the floor.

“I tried! He won't wake up and feel his forehead, he's burning up,” she hissed.

Haru frowned walking over and trying to shake Cameron awake. He could immediately feel how hot his son was despite him being no longer covered. Haru shook his arm gently kneeling close and whispering his name. As time progressed he shook him harder and called his name louder, “Cam! Cameron! It’s time to wake up!” the young boy’s eyes stayed firmly shut.

Haru glanced back at Corrine, “Get Owen in the car now,” he ordered reaching down to gather Cameron in his arms.

Corrine wasted no time running out to the kitchen, “ Owen! Put on your shoes we need to go somewhere.”

“But, I’m not dressed and school doesn't-”

“Owen! Listen to mommy and put your shoes on!”

The boy clamped his mouth shut, ran to his shoes shoving them on and rushed into the small family car with his mother, “Mommy… what's going on?”

Corrine didn't get to answer as Haru came to the car carrying the unconscious Cam.

Owen scrambled across the backseat to open the door for his father who quickly laid his brother across it with his head in Owen’s lap, “I need you to hold this to Cameron’s head, can you do that O?” Haru asked placing a cold wet cloth on Cam’s forehead.

Owen nodded putting his hand over the cloth, “But, daddy what’s wrong with Cammy?”

“He’s sick, so we're going to take him to the doctor,” Corrine replied as her husband got in and started the car.

“But I’m missing school and you look really scared… so something is really wrong, right?”

“Oh, honey, we don’t-”

“Yes.”

“Haru!” Corrine gasped.

“What? He’s six, not an idiot! Especially not when it comes to his brother,” Haru snapped.

The woman glanced at her son’s teary eyes, “You’re upsetting him!”

“We’re ALL upset! There's something wrong with Cam!” Haru effectively ended the argument.

Owen grabbed ahold of his twin's hand with his free one and held on tight, “You’re gonna be okay Cammy,” he whimpered.

The rest of the ride was quiet except for the occasional sniffle as Haru speed through streets to get to the local hospital. It felt like hours before they were parked and rushing into the emergency room. Owen yelped as he tried to keep holding Cameron’s hand while his family ran through the hospital’s doors. The ER was surprisingly empty even if it was early in the morning. Haru began to speak rapidly in Japanese to the nurse sitting behind the glass window. Corinne took a stack of paperwork from her and did her best fill the papers out as quickly as possible.

It took barely ten minutes for a doctor to come out and take Cameron to a room. The doctor began asking question after question of the frazzled parents after he'd handed off the little boy to nurses. Owen watched from behind a big window as they hooked his brother up to different machines and took tubes of his blood for testing, unusually silent.

Over the next few days, Cameron’s blood and body were tested as the doctors came to a conclusion and treatment. Cameron was hooked to an IV to give him certain antibiotics Sunday afternoon and was awake by Monday morning.

“Cam! Sweetie, how are you? Do you feel ok?” Corrine rushed to his side when she saw his eyes open, her husband not far behind.

“Mommy…?” Cam croaked, “Daddy? Where…?”

“You're in the hospital, Buddy. You scared us real bad…” Haru mumbled kneeling next to his son and grabbing his hand.

“I’m sorry…” the young brunette whimpered.

Corrine hugged him, “It’s not your fault.”

Cameron looked between his parents, “What happened?”

“Let's wait until Owen gets here before we talk about that, okay?” Haru forced a smile, “In fact why don't I go pick him up from school now?”

In under an hour, Owen was running into the room and tackling his brother, “You're awake! You're okay! I was so scared!” He wailed latching into his brother. The tackle knocked the air out of Cam’s lungs causing the boy to break into a coughing fit, “GAH! I’m sorry! I’m sorry! I’m sorry!” Owen jerked back and flaied his hands.

“Owen! Be careful with your brother!” his mother scolded.

“Sorry…” he repeated, “Can we know what's wrong with Cammy now?”

Haru crouched by his sons, “Now, I want you to listen okay?” The boys nodded,

“Cammy’s gonna get better-” Owen cheered loudly, “Owen!”

“Sorry!”

“Cammy will get better with the medicine the doctors are giving him but he's probably gonna get sick again.”

“What!? I don't want him to be sick again!” Owen yelled tears filling his eyes.

“We don't either, baby,” Corrine whispered reaching out to pat his hair.

“Am I gonna get sick a lot?” Cameron’s quiet voice spoke up.

Haru nodded, “Yeah, see your body is really weak and can't fight the bad stuff that makes you sick like other people.”

“But can’t the doctors make me better?” Cam whimpered his violet eyes overflowing with tears.

“They can make you better from what your sick with now and what you’ll get sick with. They can give you medicine to help you fight the bad stuff but it won’t always stop you from getting sick. Sorry, buddy,” Haru ruffled his son's hair.

“This means you have to start being really careful. Both of you!” Corrine points at both children, “Cam, you need to be careful with what and who you go around you can catch what they have on them very easily and you have to be careful about cuts and scrapes they can get infected real easy too. Owen your gonna have to make sure you take good care to keep you and your things clean from germs and make sure your little brothe pays attention to stuff like that too.”

Cameron whimpered and cried. Corinne leaned down and wrapped her arms around him.

“Owen you'll have to help him in school too. He'll end up missing lots of school when he's sick so you’ll have to help him keep up with the other kids,” Haru told him, “Cammy’s gonna be in the hospital a lot for medicine and doctors appointments, okay?”

Owen nodded while trying to rub the tears out of his eyes. He crawled into the small hospital bed and joined in on hugging his brother.

“I don’t wanna!” Cam sobbed. The parents hugged their two sobbing kids and looked at each other. How were they going to handle this?

Mother is highly overprotective! She loves us and we love her just as much so that's why she needs to make sure everything is safe and perfect for us. She is great at giving advice because she’s had a very eventful life (according to her anyway). I swear she's always around when you least expect it but it's always when you need her there! She encourages us in everything we do and absolutely smothers us in praise and compliments. Whenever she finds out we have a problem it seems to magically disappear. Dad is a very skittish man but he’s very loving. I’ll always remember sitting with him while he read us stories for hours! My first drawings were of his stories! He hates the idea of us ever being with anyone, at all. It’s the one thing he argues with my mother about. He especially hates Hiro-kun and Ren-kun which I don’t understand because they are so nice and they only like us as friends anyway.

Hiro-kun is very blunt. He can be really harsh and he doesn’t really notice but is criticism is always valid so I suppose it’s a good thing. He finds it really strange that I like to go to him to have him critique my art or even my cooking but I do it because I know he’s honest and it will help me improve. One thing that does bug me though is that he is kind of a spoiled brat. He expects what he wants when he wants it and we frequently argue (the only person I ever argue with really) over me not just handing him what he wants. He also thinks I’m an overachiever and that I should quit the occult club and ease up on my work in school. As much as I value his opinion, I ignore that because it’s what I enjoy doing. He is very protective though! He protect Aiko and he sometimes does it for me too (though I think it’s just for Aiko’s sake).
