Never Have I Ever Season 2 Review:
So, today Iāll be reviewing Never Have I Ever Season 2. First off though, Iād like to start by saying that I did not finish watching Season 2 of Never Have I Ever because it was so bad and I got it on good authority from a couple friends that it only got worse from where I stopped at the beginning of 2x05. So, here we are!
Many of you may or may not be thinking, how is this woman supposed to review a show with any credibility if she didnāt even finish the season? Well, all I can tell you is my thoughts, both good and bad, on it, and leave it at that. Your opinion is up to you.
First off, why and where do Deviās friends, Fabiola and Eleanor get off telling Devi to choose Paxton over Ben? Iāll admit Iām firmly Team Ben in this messed up two boyfriends situation, but Paxton wouldnāt make a bad friend, just not an attentive and good boyfriend. At least in my opinion.
I just donāt get how Fabiola and Eleanor are experts in this situation. Fabiola just got a girlfriend and sheās feeling insecure around her girlfriendās friends because she doesnāt know the social ins and outs of being gay and Eleanor is almost as awkward as Devi when it comes to boys. What gives them the authority on helping Devi choose Paxton or Ben? Both girls are far too inexperienced to be giving dating advice to their definitely misguided friend, Devi.
Listen, I know itās just a show and itās supposed to be funny, but Deviās whole boy situation comes off as annoying. At least to me. Why couldnāt Devi ask Kamala for advice on this? Especially since sheās been in a similar quandary. Trying to choose between her American boyfriend and Prashant.
Also, Dr. Ryan is so right when she tells Devi that she has 0 boyfriends instead of 2 because sheās not being open and honest with either of them.
Maybe Iām simply not the target audience for this particular show since Iām 30, but I still read a lot of YA Books and Iāve never seen a character come off as quite this annoying. Even Paxton with his annoying quirks isnāt as bad as Devi in this whole situation.
Okay, rant over. At least for now. Now, onto some of the few things I enjoyed about this season. My favorite character was definitely Paxtonās sister, Rebecca. She had some amazing one liners and advice to give to Paxton on his misguided academic and personal journey. She was definitely the star of the show for me.
I also thought Prashant and Kamala were so soft and beautiful. Him bringing a meal to her lab for her when sheās having a bad day was perfection.
I also loved the addition of Common, which my best friend actually pointed out to me as we were watching (and getting equally aggravated with Devi and her 2 boyfriends situation). Iāll be taking bets now on when his character and Deviās mom will get together, because I donāt know about you, but I saw the tiniest bit of chemistry between them.
