are you referring to this interview? because it is a gross oversimplification of what happened. it wasn't cortés delivering on it. it was more so the management that were ones who invested (maria teixidor, xavi puig, and those types). it wasn't simply a change in training tactics.

2015 was when the team first went professional, but 2019 was when the major investments took place, not to mention bringing in star players from across europe, so there was the right mix of la masia/best of europe.

hi anon, i had a more comprehensive answer to this question on my old blog, but alas, here we are. it wasn't that the girls were themselves but rather that they didn't get along with him. lluís cortés wasn't the best when it came to people management, and the girls felt overworked and burned out. and there were rumours specifically of tensions between cortés and then captain, vicky losada too.

it was reported that the team went to xavi puig and the board to voice their concerns and cortés realised that he lost the locker room.

in fact, cortés had already been renewed for a 1+1 deal to continue with barça, but cortés subsequently resigned citing "lack of energy" and burn out.

honestly, she is looking good for both club and country, and i truly think both her physical and mental problems are behind her. if you watch her progress from january to present, you can see that build up over time back to form 🙏

but i think the club strung her along all season waiting for that return and now it's too little, too late. and i have zero faith in marc vivés in getting her renewal done. 😔

Do you know if her and Alexia have any history, positive or negative? I always thought Asllani was a bit like a Swedish Alexia equivalent (closest to, obvs the two can’t be compared)

But I don’t know of any interactions between them or them speaking about each other. I know she was at RM and their paths have crossed many times for country and maybe club, but I’m curious if the vibe is friendly or if there’s a vibe at all.

certainly there was nothing super memorable between them compared to the esther or athenea battles during el clàssic. at one point, madridistas were trying to hype up asllani like their version of alexia but it never materialised. 😂
