Hetalia casual fits in official merch always suck so I decided to try my hand at it. Tried to get some variety in the characters but I’ve just got more clothing hc’s for my favorites

Title: the past-present-future comes knocking

(Leon + Yao, 1997 handover of HK)

This isn’t really commentary on… y’know, but rather a melancholy for the cultural shift that’s happening right now. I know we can’t keep the old HK culture forever, but I do hope that we can preserve some part of it. Cultural exchange and shifts are inevitable. It’s mostly about whether we get to choose which parts to let go/keep, or if we hold on too tight to what we had and become forced to let go of what we treasure most.

Yao’s… I’m not entirely sure what he’s feeling. Maybe a quiet surety for the future. He doesn’t want to appear threatening, but does so nonetheless.

Leon’s more apprehensive but has to push on despite the fear. He just wants the coming conversation over with and to be left alone.

I based this on HK’s old tong lau(s) 唐樓(haha HKers see if you get all the references in the art) (車公廟好撚貴嘅風車!!!!!!) 

They just feel… extremely nostalgic, and I miss the feel of them sometimes, along with everything that we’d throw into the corners to be remembered years down the line. The barred balconies you’d often see in the city centre also feel like cages sorta so I thought that fit the theme of this a lot. (Backed into a corner and forced to confront change)

This was… originally a comic. I couldn’t continue that because life got in the way, but I’m pretty happy with this as well.
