I've been listening to Knowledge Fight from the start since it ended, and it's really highlighting for me just how much of an audience surrogate Jordan is. Jones or one of his guests says reprehensible shit? Jordan gets up and shouts "I HOPE YOU DIE" from 10 feet away so it doesn't ruin the recording. I love it. It has the lowest KYS Quotient of its successors, just because Jordan is already shouting it. (Dan's editing helps too but Jordan screaming what I'm feeling is so cathartic)

Just remembered the time before I knew anything, when most of my knowledge of Video Games That Came Out Before I Was Conscious came from Smash Melee trophies. Something about the description of the Starman from Earthbound led me to believe it was related to the Moon in Majora's Mask. I think they were described as harbingers of doom while the Moon was very definitely present and doomful in Melee? Unsure. What a cool game I imagined in my head tho lol

The little girl in Babe the Pig was right to be upset about the dollhouse btw. She wanted something specific, her family let her get her hopes up about it, and then she was given something different. It may have been higher quality, but it was very much not what she wanted and explaining that the gift she got was better only serves to condescend to her and guilt trip her about it. The same phenomenon was at play when Stanley cups were the Big Thing and people were upset about getting Yetis btw. Someone had taken the thing you want, made decisions on their own about what would be better, and given you that instead. It demonstrates a disregard for your desires, and what makes it pernicious is that they obviously planned it that way. If someone tells you "I want a Specific Gift as my big holiday present" and you hear "I want a gift of this general type for my big holiday present" that is a problem.
