“It is absurd to divide people into good and bad. People are either charming or tedious.”
Oscar Wilde - from Lady Windermere's Fan, 1892
rehearsal
you dance around them. your thoughts, your feelings, the truths that hide under polite conversation, those words we are too scared to say.
every gesture choreographed, every sentence carefully crafted. never say why, say 'i'm fine', never say yes, say 'if you want', but really? please stay.
please hear me. i am silently screaming for you, if you'd only hear the screams, or see the way i trace your steps just to stay close to you.
this is a performance. i dance around my feelings every day, trying to hide them away.
i'd never let you hear them, those words i am too scared to say.
i love you. don't go. please stay.
loneliness can be comforting, i like my own space
I broke my mirror. Not shattered, no, just a long crack running down the middle like a sigh in the glass - Fragmenting me into two.

my sun
you don’t always have to be so far away, do you? but you are. i orbit you like you're the sun then i'd be the planet you forgot to feel warm for.
i guess it's like gravity — tight, desperate, magnetic, it pulls me closer to you.
like maybe if i loved hard enough, you’d forget how to drift.
but the void grew teeth, and your silence was a wound. if i held so tight, why did i fall?
maybe you were never holding on. maybe letting go was quieter than i ever knew.
so now i float, not quite gone, just suspended. well, the stars don’t say your name anymore.
you always have to be so far away.
there is an invisible barrier that keeps you and i apart. why do you feel so far away when you're right next to me?
i held on tight.
did you let go?
Sylvia Plath, from a letter featured in The Letters of Sylvia Plath Vol. 1: 1940-1956

An author that has work considered poetry you should check out is: Iain Thomas - I wrote this for you
thank you so much! i had a look at the website and read a few of the poems, and its beautiful <3
i hate poetry. so i write it.
what i hate about poetry is that it puts into words everything i see in myself, everything i hate about myself. the truth is easier to digest when you find it yourself, rather than it coming to you by chance.
i wonder, when i find a line that perfectly encapsulates everything i think i know about myself, if i’m really that predictable. but when i write a line, i’m knowing myself on purpose.
sometimes i wonder if it’s really poetry i’m writing. it feels like words mashed together in a pretty way. supposedly a rose by any other name is still a rose, but if poetry is a rose, my writing is a stem. a buildup to something pretty, never the beauty itself.
i don’t want to write poetry. but i want to write, so i call it poetry so that part at least is easy to understand.
i wish i could write poetry. i have the thoughts and the feelings but my mind goes blank when i try to articulate them. i envy poets
i feel very stongly that elizabeth 100% would have sworn darcy to eternal secrecy about the fact that he had already proposed once unsuccessfully when she accepted, solely bc you just KNOW mr collins' smug ass would be like, "oh ho ho! huh! so apparently it IS the usual with young ladies to reject the addresses of the man whom they secretly mean to accept when he applies for their favor! hm! interesting!" and then she would be honor-bound to leap over lady catherine's dining table and strangle him
"To go wrong in your own way is better than to go right in someone else's."
