As summer is gradually fading into a distant memory and we hastily return to our habitual lives, we continue to recollect the memorable moments that have been watermarked by this summer’s theme.
For the devoted Royal watchers, summer could well be characterised as the summer of royal dystopia.
For the media, this summer was defined by a cesspool of royal scandal, restricted access to the members of the Royal Family (including a temper tantrum by the fallen Prince during a press conference) and constant drips of contradicting PR articles.
For the rest of the oblivious world, this summer will be remembered as the summer that HM and the RF lost their integrity.
Summer started with the much-anticipated christening of the most latent royal baby in modern history. The official announcement of the christening was made public several weeks prior, in what seemed like a rushed response, following global criticism about the way the Sussexes handled the birth. No further information was shared, but the date. Undeniably the Sussexes were continuing with this threadbare tradition of exclusivity and reticence when they refused to name the Godparents. Naturally, people assumed that the Godparents belong to the Sussexes’ newfound celebrity cortege, otherwise and as tradition demands, the Godparents would have been named.
The media was refused inside access, they were even prohibited from taking photos of the family and baby at the end of the ceremony. It was all very secretive and exclusive. This pattern of behaviour continues…right up to the day MM decidedly takes a break from her mum duties to attend Wimbledon to watch her new BFF Serena Williams play in her second round match, in blue jeans. This was an obvious last minute decision, also known as a ‘surprise’ visit, to provoke attention. The Wimbledon organisers were coerced into vacating several seating rows to cater to the Duchess’ megalomaniacal demands. One of her demands included hectoring-via her security entourage- anyone who tried to take a snapshot of her. The Duchess of double standards expects privacy in front of a full stadium in the year 2019 were people own smartphones, who have replaced photo cameras, as a necessary utility to their daily lives.

The press and the British people were not going to let this slip through. This was distasteful and utterly unroyal. It became even more apparent that she’s not here to serve the people, but she married into royalty only to serve herself and her agenda.
Not long after the Wimbledon stunt, MM appeared dishevelled, somewhat manic, with a dangling baby Archie semi-covered in a blanket (on one very hot and humid summer’s day, mind you) at the King Power Royal Charity Polo Day. According to people who were at the polo, MM was pacing back and forth under the sun with her 3-month old baby in her arms (causing extreme anxiety to a lot of new mums worried that she would drop the baby in the way she was handling him) looking out of place and befuddled. Why was she there? Another ‘surprise’ visit to watch her husband play? Was that visit for her husband or for the press who were thrilled to get a rare photograph and glimpse of Archie with his mum. Again, little to nothing makes sense. MM keeps contradicting herself and her ‘values’.
At around that time, emerging rumours wanted the Sussexes separated. The only two events the Sussexes attended together, was the Lion King premier and the baseball match. Both of which were not official royal appearances. Naturally, everyone wanted to know what’s been happening behind the screens thus the rumour mill has been in overdrive ever since.
Early August was MM’s 38th (?) birthday. Once again. stories were dripping to the press that Harry and Meghan would spend MM’s birthday with the Queen in Balmoral. Yet, before the words were even typed, grainy, obscure photos emerged of -allegedly- Harry, Meghan, and baby Archie - disembarking a private jet. Even the most die-hard Sussex fan could see the hypocrisy in their actions. Of course, only a self-respectful, receptive Sussex fan will admit to it.
The public’s response was…unprecedented. Everyone lashed out at them for their hypocrisy.
A hard lesson the Sussexes must learn after this summer is that despite their titles, exposure, power and public currency, their luminary status is not God given. They have to prove their worth and status to receive the public’s endorsement, otherwise, they make themselves look like petulant spoiled teenagers who cry wolf every time they get caught in their own lies.
