The hair is inspired by the Hershey Kiss chocolate. Specifically the ones with the little swirls in them.

On that note: Lotso from Toy Story 3 might be up there with Turbo as one of my favorite Disney twist villains.

The way he views the world and treats the people in it can be really interesting to dive into.

Because of his complexity, I think him and King Candy could have a very interesting dynamic.

Two tyrants either working side-by-side, or constantly trying to knock each other off the pyramid they’ve both made.

I based this project off of the more recent slashers (the game calls them prime assets), Otto and Arora Kress, two conjoined twins.

Instead of the conjoined duo being romantically in love with each other like the two in the game, Turbo and King Candy hate each other.

I modified my KingCandy design for this piece to fit with the atmosphere of the game, instead of him being colorful and bright like I usually draw him.

I thought this was a really cute idea, and I enjoyed making it dearly.

I also wanted to say thank you for all of the love on my previous posts, and that I’m glad you guys like my art and are willing to listen to my yap.

I lowkey wanna make something similar to this art piece but with the Turbo Twins, but I’m not sure.

Okay, conclusion time!

I really dislike my previous design of King Candy. Like, I looked at it for a long minute and thought something was wrong with it that I couldn’t put my finger on. So I tested some stuff out, and now we’re here.

These past few days have truly taught me what it’s like to be my biggest critic, and oh my goodness is it tiring 🫩

The previous design’s colors were very over saturated and flat. They also didn’t blend well with each other. For some reason the colors worked with his cybug design.

I also thought that the type of digital pencil I used made him look odd in a way I can’t describe, it was just a gut feeling. So for the new design I used a bolder pencil to make him look softer.

I changed the color palette to give him a dark cherry color, a way to contrast from his Turbo design, which has very bright and simple colors.

These are the redesigns I have at the moment. I wanted the Turbo Twins to have this thing where one of them has more pixelated features than the other, and also mismatched clothing.

I gave Turbo a giant ‘T’ on his helmet just so we all know how much of the egotistical bastard he is, and a little gap in his teeth just like the Turbo Twins.

I didn’t change much to King Candy’s design than I did previously. I just made the crown’s pointers stick outwards more and I also added bells attached to the tail things of his outfit.

This design was heavily inspired by a Turbbug design I saw on Pinterest (I think it might’ve been an official movie concept design but I’m not so sure).

I added my own spin to him, giving him a more mechanical body, cartoony eyes and a scorpion stinger because I thought that would fit him well.

I lowkey wished we saw a more Turbo based cybug design in the movie you know?

I wanted to get back into making traditional art more, so I drew King CandyBug traditionally with ink pens and acrylic markers.

I’m so happy you guys liked my King Candybug design so much to the point of the post having so many likes! It made my day when I first saw the amount of notifications I was getting! This is the most likes I’ve had out of all the art that I’ve posted, so thank you.

This took me a day and a half and I’m so happy with how it turned out.

This is the first time I’ve painted in a while, and even before this I rarely ever painted. I’m very proud of the progress so far and I can’t wait to show ya’ll the final product!

Btw, I’ve got some ideas for WIR fanart for other characters in the movie besides King Candy/Turbo.

I thought I would delve into this idea and make a Christmas themed costume for Turbo and Sourbill…

Turbo’s quite the mean one. Like the Grinch stealing Christmas, Turbo steals games with his trusty sidekick/royal advisor Sourbill!

This is my first time making King Candybug and I think it came out great! I added my own little spin to King Candy’s design that you can spot in his cybug form.

I wanted to make his design more candy related since his movie design doesn’t have any desert-y features like the rest of the racers in Sugar Rush (but that’s probably because he’s not supposed to be a Sugar Rush racer in the first place).

I gave him a cupcake crown, a beauty mark, sprinkles in his hair (the sprinkles were inspired by verylargeorangecat’s design for King Candy if Turbo stole his identity) and a more pink-ish hue!
