now. more than ever...

I know I promised to update my small but faithful following with details and pictures of my trip to the Middle East and have yet to deliver. Don't crucify me just yet.  I promise I will have blogs and vlogs to share within the next week.

On an unrelated note, I wanted to share this lovely article I read on refinery29 this morning.  It's about how a young couple scrounged and scraped to buy an apartment in New Yawk City.  Given that I have become obsessed with personal finance since I joined mint.com a few months ago, I can't help but spread this article and its tried and true advice.  With the summer sun calling us to more rooftop happy hours than could be considered healthy by even the rowdiest of bros, it may seem nearly impossible to reach your savings goals this season.  Notice how I said nearly. We don't have to be slaves to trendy clothes and new restaurants in order to enjoy adulthood.  Sometimes slowing down and staying in can save more than empty calories and set us up for financial independence like we've never imagined.

Whether you are saving for a house, a vacation or a new crockpot, cutting down on frivolous spending and setting small, attainable financial goals can set you up freedom in the long run.

This lady is coming to you live from Dhahran, Saudi Arabia!! Pictures and details from my trip will be up as soon as I touch down in the states and have time to curate and edit.

So far, this has been an amazing trip.  I am spending some ultra precious time with my mom and our brains are just firing synapses about how we (our family) can take over the world - pinky and the brain style. I am so inspired by her life story and journey and the pioneering things she has done as a woman in this man's world.

In order to make the best of this vacation, and harp on some of the great conversations I have had I am going to spend the next few days brushing up on my coding skills with Codecademy.  Perhaps there will be a new theme for "The Lady Speaks" in our future?  Who knows...I'm full of half-empty promises on this blog.
