so to give you the most basic definition, being kin with something is relating to that something in a way that goes further than a simple liking. it’s a deep connection to a character, creature, concept, etc - for some people, it’s just that connection, while for others, they feel that they were that thing in another life or universe.

there are a lot of terms that relate to the concept of kin - therian, otherkin/fictionkin, otherhearted/fictionhearted, copinglink, synpath, and tons i’m probably forgetting about - that all have different definitions, but they all have that idea of deep connection in common.

otherhearts and synpaths still come under the alterhuman/kin umbrella though! i just wanted to clarify the difference between terms!
