I retained their original names. Connor was Connie at home, in a Catholic girl's boarding school in Charlottesville before she got caught reading Sappho and canon-compliantly getting expelled. Then she had enough and ran away to New York. She works in Jared's Barbershop on Christopher Street (where stonewall inn is) and is an illegal tattoo artist by night. She goes by Connor as a dyke name. Evan is a Midwestern daughter who came to look for job and husband in NY but getting dragged by Connor into Stonewall Riot and like, the whole thing paid heavy homage to Chappell Roan's album. The entire fic is like, in Chinese, which I absolutely do not bother translating, so. here's the art i've done in-universe with the fic.
