Not really dead...

⊰ ♛ ⊱—;   Sister? Did he mean Yuuki, or– someone else? In spite of the long relationship they had, Elizabeth still did not know Caleb well. There would be time to debunk his mysteries later– after wasting a second to register what he had just told her, she took the phone from his pocket with bloodied hands and quickly dialed the instructed number. 

             Each ring without an answer was absolute torture. One .  .  . Two .  .  . Three .  .  .  Halfway through the fourth ring, a woman’s voice answered, evidently confused by her brother’s fiancée being on line. Before she could speak further, Elizabeth cut her off and calmly explained the situation at hand while the hunters banged relentlessly on the other side of the door. A simple ‘okay’ was said by the other woman before hanging up, leaving the blonde to return her attention to Caleb.

             The heavy scent of Caleb’s blood mixing with the hunter’s she’d killed was not pleasant contradictory to her vampires senses, instead they induced a dreadful anxiety. Why was this happening? It wasn’t their choice become engaged. If only they’d lumped Caleb together with a different woman, then hunters wouldn’t have come .  .  . Caleb needed to be with his own kind, not with her; she’d only bring more trouble down upon him. Dummy .  .  . Why would he risk such an injury trying to protect her? 

             Kneeling beside him, Elizabeth did all that she could to keep Caleb comfortable while his injury healed at a sluggish pace, running her hand over his and occasionally leaving an apology for what happened. There was so much blood thanks to that damned weapon– it should have hit her instead. Losing blood was devastating to a human, but to a vampire? It was all the more excruciating; the feeling of thirst would set in on top of the already painful sensation of the initial wound, it was pure torture. And although Caleb was powerful enough to maintain a cool exterior, Elizabeth knew he suffered.

“It's not your fault--” He told her, continuing to ignore the injury--bleeding speeding up a bit as he did. “I saw this coming, I just didn't think they would risk your Father's wrath. I go--.” he was going to say that he'd gotten careless, but he was cut off by a slight vacuuming sound as the air seemed to distort and a medium skinned, Native American looking woman who appeared to be in her mid 20's appeared in the room. She took note of the state Caleb was in and the hunters pounding at the door, wasting no time she put her hand on Caleb's shoulder. The Pureblood held onto his future wife a bit tighter so that she wouldn't pull away to asked what was happening, disregarding the discomfort it caused. The elder woman brought her other hand up to her chest and as soon as it made contact with herself the vacuuming noise surrounded them and they appeared in another room.

Knowing that they were safe now Caleb allowed himself to relax, his body slacking as the adrenaline quickly left his body and the toll of his wound fully hit him. He fought to stay conscious, though it was clearly a loosing battle. “Help me get him into the couch, I'll have to have Aiyana go back an hour or so and put plastic on it, since that's obviously why I saw her doing it in the first place earlier.” She realized that Elizabeth probably had no idea what in the world she was talking about, but she left introductions for after Caleb was on the couch. When he was, she brought her arm up to her younger brother's mouth, forcing his nearly unconscious self to bit down onto her skin and take some blood. It might not help as much as human blood, but it would help keep him from dying of blood loss at least.

“My gosh Caleb, what are we gonna do with you? So much for being perfectly capable of getting out on your own--” She said before pulling her arm back, holding her hand over it to quell the bleeding until it was done with the accelerated healing. She then turned towards Elizabeth, giving her a smile as she addressed her. “Now, you must be Elizabeth! I'm Caleb's elder sister, Migisi. I'm sure you've heard all about me.”

♛━»   Their arranged engagement was met with heavy skepticism by both societies, as was to be expected. After all, very few hunters throughout history ever became involved with a vampire– let alone a Pureblood; a relationship like this was taboo no matter what perspective it was examined under. Caleb wasn’t just any Pureblood either, he was the lost son of Juri and Haruka Kuran which would make him true head of the Kuran family. That also meant he was not without enemies… He’d be the target of vampires who wished to take advantage of his lineage and power, and hunters who wished to see him dead simply for being alive.

    Elizabeth was the daughter of Kaien Cross, the immortal vampire slaying legend. Even within his own society, he was received with mixed responses for his decision to stop hunting and found Cross Academy. That choice impacted Elizabeth as well– it stripped her away from him, and since becoming a vampire she was being used as a tool for the two groups she was now part of– that was the basis of the entire arrangement. Would a hunter-by-blood-gone-vampire and a Pureblood be able to prove that coexistence was attainable? Some thought not despite the young couple’s harmonious relationship and decided this ‘facade’ could no longer be allowed to continue.

    As the hunter took a swing at the lady of the house with an anti-vampire sword, Caleb had thrust himself in between his fiancée and the blade.

     “Caleb…!” It was never supposed to be this way. Never. She shot a fierce glare at the one who had slashed her companion and that was that. Like a mad bat out of hell, Elizabeth snapped, fought back, and plunged her arm through her attacker’s chest. She had never utilized her vampiric strength until now and felt ill to have done it… but it was the only solution. 

    More hunters were around, no doubting that, so they couldn’t very well stay in once place. Making their predicament all the more distressing, Caleb was significantly weakened and had bled a great deal from his injury. Thundering footsteps could be heard in the not-so-far off distance, leaving them with nothing else to do but flee… and there was no chance of Elizabeth leaving Caleb behind. They weren’t exactly friends, and certainly not lovers, but there was a mutual respect for one another. Even so, she… couldn’t understand why Caleb risked his life for her.

    Elizabeth shouldered Caleb to her bedchambers on the second floor, seeing as all the exits were now blocked. Aside from the locked cellar, it was the most secure room in the estate. 

    ~🔮~ Caleb hadn’t been surprised by the sudden appearance of the Hunter’s, he’d seen it coming for a few weeks now and knew that they’d probably make a move any day. However the fact that they had tried to attack Elizabeth, and had risked the wrath of Kaien Cross and the admittedly very powerful people that he was friends with? It had come as a surprise–and not many things really surprised him with his ability. He held his hand over his shoulder, trying to will the anti-vampire wound to heal faster even though it was useless.

♛━»   This day was one long-awaited by the Immortal Hunter-Pureblood hybrid. After the accidental destruction of her body, Lilith had gone from host-to-host hoping to find one worthy of her status– who better than her own niece? Like herself, she was an anomaly. She should not exist. When bitten by a Pureblood vampire, it should be expected for the victim to turn into a Class D monster, yes? But not her. Not her, thanks to the immaculate blood of the Cross family.

     Living as something in between an Immortal Hunter and Pureblood, the teen’s life was offered to the true son of the late Kuran heads and a marriage was arranged, one that actually worked out rather well. The young couple, though not to be wed for another few months, got along and seemed to enjoy each other’s company. All that was going to change of course: Lilith had other plans.

     She opened the manor’s front door with Elizabeth’s keys and went inside. Following the male’s scent led her to the library whereupon Lilith stole ‘her fiance’ in an embrace from behind. She pressed her body up against his and squeezed him tightly; Caleb was going to make such a delightful play thing for the day.

And so he planned to turn and find out what was wrong--then this women, whoever she was because it was certainly not Elizabeth, began to speak. He fought against listening to what she said, even if there was always a small part of him that felt guilty he wasn't going to let it grow bigger that easily, and so he grabbed the arms around his waist and turned himself. He pushed her back a bit, enough that she wasn't pressed up against her but he could still attempt to hold her in place.
