One thing I don't think enough about is that Gelarian is not a standardised language, there's no Académie de la langue Gelarienne, there's no central authority that dictates how the language should be spelled or used, which means multiple different ways of spelling the same thing could co-exist. I don't have to decide between Ĳsenlier and Ĳsenliyr, both could be used depending on the preferences of the in-universe writer. Debates could happen in-universe over it, jokes even.

Wizards would make up the bulk of Gelarian written text and apprentices would tend to use the same spelling patterns as their masters, which would make for a fairly standardised-looking language as different Wizards from the same, only Wizard university of the city gravitate towards spelling things the same way.

But outside of that, outside the university, throughout the city anything could happen, especially when the first language of immigrants, especially Rĳm Yeti and Lazur Yeti immigrants influence the way they write, not that the Rĳm Yeti or the Lazur Yeti have much written language going on to begin with, actually I should think about that too.
