Pat on the back
It is a great feeling to get a pat on the back for a job well done. That kind of recognition can go a long way toward keeping us motivated and inspired. It does not take much to do the same for others. Sometimes it is nothing more than an emoji at the end of a text or a thumbs-up that says I saw what you did, and it mattered. It costs so little and takes seconds. And yet the person on the other end feels it. We all put effort into what others might not see. We stay late, try again, help someone, solve a problem, or keep going when it would be easier to stop. We do not need applause for everything we do, but it feels good when someone notices. We need to keep ourselves open to that. To not let a good moment pass without saying something. Because we know how good it feels to receive one, and that is reason enough to be generous in giving them. We do not have to wait for a major accomplishment. Just notice something and say so. It might be exactly what someone needs.
