Her other words took a while to register after his brief backtrack to memory lane. But he was still coherent enough to catch what she was talking about. “Sonya Karp, yes. She overcame her insanity after she’s been restored from being Strigoi. The research that Lissa spearheaded, she’s currently the one manning it. Sonya’s already discovered a lot so far. And I’ve been a part of it for a while, checking up on auras and such. But to be honest, they only focus on how the spirit can deal with the entire Strigoi problem — nothing about how us spirit-users can.. you know… save us from ourselves.”

"Has she come here to speak to you at all? If spirit has messed with her head, shouldn't she be here helping us become normal again?" Avery asked, creasing her brows together and crossing her arms over her chest. "This place isn't the worst in the world I can imagine, but you and I would be much more useful sane and out there helping them find things. Well.. at least you would be," she amended, looking sheepish. This was going to be a lot harder than she thought. The giddiness of the magic she used was taking its time fading, and her mind itched to use more of it. 

It was hard to stay neutral under her scrutinising gaze, and not puff out his chest in protest of her wandering eyes. She was moroi, though, and royal to boot, if he had guessed correctly; she could do whatever she wanted to. “Guardians rarely are,” was his neutral answer, which came out as more of a grumble. This girl was rubbing him the wrong way for some reason.

"Fair point," Avery sighed as she leaned back on the bench. Taking several deep breaths, she tried to reign in her attitude. Being more than a few rooms away from her two bond mates was making her very on edge today. "Sorry, it's just been a long day," she told the Guardian, trying to patch over any tears she may have made. After all, she wanted to remain hidden from her father as long as possible. 

“One drink is a lie and you   know it. It’s my night off   but I’d rather spend it  with a clear head.  If you wanna drink,  feel free to do so.”

"You know, you're going to have the  rest of your life to be a fun-sucking  guardian. You should enjoy your last  few chances at fun and freedom while  you still can. I won't tell anyone, promise." 

"How am I supposed to know?!"  she snapped again. She took  another few shots, “It’s not   doing anything.” She scowled and  and tried to stand up but fell.

"Hey, hey, slow down. Everything will be fine.  Boys are stupid, and one day he's going to  realize what an idiot he's being. And for the  record," Avery added as she reached out to  help Lissa up, "It's definitely working, just... hm,  maybe bourbon would be better. Or whiskey."

"Christian Broke up with me."  She said with a sad look.   ”So…” She grabbed the vodka  and downed it in one. “lets get  pissed.”

"Wait-- what? Why the hell would he do that?"  Avery asked, her voice indignant as she let  Lissa take control over the vodka. "You two  are like... the Brangelina of this place. Only  you know, with you carrying him popularity wise."

"Ah," was the only reply he offered. This girl’s life was none of his business, and he wasn’t sure if he wanted it to be. “Well, he didn’t send me.”

"I guess I should apologize for the attitude then.  I'm sure you know how it is though. Parents and  elders treating you like you're still ten despite  being an adult." Avery looked the dhampir up and  down, taking in his tall, well built form. Definitely  prime Guardian material. "Then again, maybe not.  You look a little too bad ass to be treated like a kid."
