If only the daily two-hours long blackouts were our only problem, as of right now we have:
A gigantic water crisis (at least here in Maracaibo)
Inflation reaching 300% as of now, with an estimated 600% by the end of the year
Massive medicine shortages, the most critical being anti-biotics (took me two days and +25 pharmacies to find one miserable box of pills for my recent tonsillitis), diabetes pills, heart pills, painkillers and many types of gastrointestinal medicine.
Never-seen before levels of violence, we’re right now South America’s most dangerous country, more so that my natal Colombia, which deals daily with terrorism!
Shortages of milk, rise, cooking oil, soap, detergent, fabric softeners, diapers, women’s higiene products in general, deodorant, toothpaste, mouth wash, mayonnaise, among others.
Oh, and due to the gigantic inflation, each day cash is worth less, but since the government refuses to acknowledge the inflation problem (well, besides blaming the oligarchy for it), we’re stuck with a bunch of coins no one will take anymore, three useless bills (2, 5 and 10 BsF.), and the remaining three (20, 50 and 100 BsF.) barely useful, making people literally withdrawing piles of cash just to pay for a trip to the supermarket, with no new, higher valuable, more easy and convenient to carry bills in sight.
The country is literally imploding on itself, but hey, fucking socialism/communism works!
