Pitch took a breath before looking back up, “It’s something I’ve come to terms with….come to expect I suppose. Fear is unwanted, after all. It is just infuriating. I suppose I should apologize for my outburst. It was uncalled for." He shifted and composed himself again before continuing, “And as to answer one of your original questions, yes, that is how I treat one of the few believers I have. It is what is expected of me, and the only way people will continue to believe in me. We are in my domain, after all. At this point I believe that if you woke up, you would not be capable of seeing me, writing me off as just a bad dream. Anyone can see me in my nightmares, if I so choose for them to see me."

Pitch shrugged, "People talking to me makes me feel almost human again." He stated, not really having any other explanation, so he left it at that.

Pitch nodded, “And thus I have proven my point. Fear is so often overlooked as a necessary part of existence, simply because it is unwanted. Fear can be fun as well though….with out fear there would be no exhilaration, which would make things such as the hunt dull and boring. There would be no fear of being discovered and the game taking off, or on occasion attacking back."

"A’right, but…" Merida bit her lip before asking, “What about bein’ afraid of things we don’ need t’ be afraid of. Like th’ dark or monsters in th’ closet?"

"Once upon a time, being afraid of the dark, and 'monsters in the closet' were valid fears. Things in the dark could kill you, and so could the monster hiding in the back of the cave. Now adays they seem irrelevant, but are still left over from habit." He explained.

“Becase they’re scary.” Merida answered plainly. “An’ they ‘ave big sharp teeth an’ could eat me!”

“So you run from them because you are scared. You fear the bear, yes? Without that fear to teach you to run, you would be eaten, yes?”

“Ah, well….” Merida nodded, a bit surprised. “Ah’ve never thought o’ it like tha’ before…”

Pitch nodded, “And therefore my existence is a necessary one." He stated, smirking as he proved his point.

"Ah guess…" She crossed her arm.

Fear is something that is necessary in life, and it always will be. All the elements are necessary, all the emotions are necessary. The Guardians and I have been going at it since the beginning of their existence, the Man in the Moon and I even longer. I attacked his parents because as soon as I was taken over by Fearlings, I was attacked. Like a monster. It was almost like they planned for it to happen. They never did anything to try to get me back, to try to save me, so I attacked them. And I will continue to keep attacking." He stated, voice dangerous.

You want to believe in your precious Guardians, because they represent things that you want. My element is hated, despised even. People believe they would be much better off without it. And anyone can see me in a nightmare, should they look hard enough, believing in me or not.” He countered.

Akame released a huff as she folded her arms while her eyebrows narrow, “If I didn’t believe in you, then I wouldn’t be able to see you and talk to you, right?” She reasoned, “Isn’t that how it works with all the guardians and spirits?” She questioned as a small smirk formed.

Learning New Tricks || Jack and Pitch

Jack shrugged and brushed a bit of dust from his pant leg. “Well, maybe they rely on you like we rely on children’s’ belief. I’ll do what I can to help you, though.” With a soft sigh, he offered a cold hand for Pitch to shake. “And, uh, thanks for teaching me the shadow stuff. It’s pretty cool.”

Pitch nodded, shaking his hand in return, “And thank you for attempting to help me out with my….predicament.” He said, smiling a bit.

“Well, you’ve proven yourself pretty… well, not as bad as I thought you were.” He chuckled, turning his staff in his hand a few times. “Just gotta convince the other’s you’re not so bad.”

"And attempt to undo over 300 years of them believing otherwise will not be easy." He stated, shrugging, "But it is good that you will try."

Pitch chuckled and looked up at the city.

The city was full of lights and sound. It was her home, this was her city and she was queen. “Welcome to Pitsburgh.” She cackled at Pitch.

Pitch chuckled,  ”All the lights are a bit blinding, aren’t they? Especially for one made of shadows and darkness.”

“I sappose.” Ericka giggled pulling her Nightmare to a stop in front of an old mansion. “Well this is it, Tom loves to throw parties.”

Pitch came to a halt on his nightmare, looking over the building, “I will say that he does have lovely taste in architecture.”

“Well, he was born in the 20’s.” Ericka said getting off her nightmare.

Pitch nodded, “It is lovely.” He stated, dissolving the nightmare and floating down easily.

Pitch raised a brow, though remained near the corner of the room, “Pleasure, I suppose.” He stated.

“Please sir after you.” Tom motioned taking Ericka in to his arms.

Pitch nodded and strode off, air of superiority around him.
