In Super Mario Sunshine, Pinna Park Beach contains flying enemies called Swipin’ Stus, which attack Mario by Ground Pounding. If Yoshi’s juice is used to turn one Swipin’ Stu into a platform and then another Swipin’ Stu attacks Mario on Yoshi while underneath that platform (as seen in the top image), Mario will be stuck in the floor (bottom image).
Since the Swipin’ Stu’s attack also steals Mario’s hat, Mario will also take damage from sunstroke, causing him to slowly lose health (note Mario flashing red). Since Mario is unable to free himself from the ground, he will die of sunstroke around one minute after this glitch occurs.

In Super Mario 64, if Mario becomes caught between the Toad in the lobby of Peach’s Castle and the wall outcropping next to him, after a few seconds, his model will start tilting intermittently, which does not happen during Mario’s falling animation in regular gameplay.

Learning Guy Fieri is actually an excellent human being is what taught me to cool it a little on the cringe culture pile-ons. Like, this is a man who performs gay weddings, donates pretzel machines to schools for their fundraisers, gives a shitload of money to restaurant workers, and apparently lives on a ranch with 400 goats and a flock of peacocks. So who cares if he has wild spiky hair and draws flames on everything? He’s a good egg, and if making crazy hamburgers and shopping at hot topic makes him happy, then let him be happy! And if other people like “cringey” things, so what? Are they kind? Are they caring? Do they have several hundred goats? That’s what matters!
Wait Guy Fieri is considered cringe? I just legit thought he has a cool aesthetic:
“Cringe” is just an excuse for people who bullied others as kids to keep bullying people into adulthood. Fuck cringe.

In Super Mario Sunshine, Lava Cheep Cheeps appear on Corona Mountain. In-game, they are engulfed in flames and can only be seen from a distance (left), making it difficult to distinguish their features.
Extracting the model from the game (middle) shows that the Lava Cheep Cheeps have flower-shaped pupils. These are a reference to the Mexican holiday, Día de Muertos, where the dead are commemorated, and are often depicted with flowers in their eyes; suggesting the Lava Cheep Cheeps are already dead, which is why they are able to swim in lava.
The exact same reference and flower-shaped pupils were used later for the Tostarenans in Super Mario Odyssey (right).

Print ad for entertainment trade magazines, showing the acquisition of Nintendo IPs for software to be produced for the Philips CD-i. Note that only Mario, Link, and Zelda’s planned games ended up being released (Hotel Mario, Link: The Faces of Evil and Zelda: The Wand of Gamelon, respectively); the planned game featuring Donkey Kong was cancelled.

In Super Mario Sunshine, there is an ambient track of low-pitched sounds that plays on Corona Mountain, but at such a low volume it is extremely hard to hear over the area’s music that plays over it. Here is the track by itself, extracted from the game’s files.

There is an extra 101st banana available for Diddy Kong in Jungle Japes in Donkey Kong 64. It is floating slightly below the ground in the mine area. If it is obtained by clipping out of bounds, it does count as a unique banana, but the counter is programmed to not go above 100 if it is obtained after the 100 regular bananas.
