Horsin Around
To summarize my silly thoughts: Equestrian club boys have a crush on you, and their horses are tired of them making googoo eyes so they take matters into their own hands er⌠hooves. Also, I lowkey just assumed the horses genders based on their names so if I got it wrong, oh well.
Riddle
You were relaxing on your dormâs couch, Grim curled up in your lap watching some corny movie on the phone that Crowley so graciously gifted you. It was a lovely Saturday and you wouldnât have to think about school for 2 whole days!
It was peaceful which is strange considering you attend Night Raven College. A school full of insecure crackheads that love to overblot and drag you into their troubles, but you digress. Maybe, just maybe, youâll have one normal day.
*Thunk thunk thunk* âMRAH!? What in the world was that?â Grim yowls, claws digging into your thighs painfully. You push the fat tub of lard off of you as you wince. âSounds like someoneâs knocking on the door. And loudly at that.â You grunt and push yourself up off the couch.
Your soft footfalls slowly echo off the quiet dormâs walls as you open the door and are greeted with⌠a large brown horse. âAinât no fucking wayâŚâ You and the horse have an uncomfortable stare off as you stand there in shock.
âWhoâs at the door?â You hear the small pitter patter of Grim's paws approaching before they stop suddenly. âEH? Whoâs darn horse is that?!â You shrug, looking back at the feline. âIâm not dealing with this! Good luck, ___.â And he waddles away.
Turning your attention back towards the horse, you canât help but think youâve seen him before. You deduce that youâve probably seen him (I think itâs a he) near the stables. Did the horse break free from there?
He was wearing a bridle and on his back was a saddle blanket. Almost like his rider was halfway through gearing him up before he took off. You supposed you'd have to lead the overgrown toddler back to his rider before things go south(as they usually do at NRC.)
You sigh as you grab the reins and try walking off towards the stables but the gorse doesnât budge. Great, one of those horses. The stubborn ones are a pain in the butt. âCome on big guy, donât you wanna go back to your rider?â You try to coax the horse along but he snorfs at you.
Drawing your hand dramatically to your chest like he just insulted your blood line, you gasp dramatically. The horse stares at you unimpressed and lies down on your dorm's porch. How in the world where you supposed to bring him back.
You could text, Riddle. Heâs in the equestrian club, but he might be doing his housewarden duties and you didnât want to disturb him. Working alone it is.
You drop the reins and run back inside towards your fridge. Riffling around for maybe some carrots before your hand lands on a small basket of apples, courtesy of Epel after the SDC. Jackpot!
With an apple in hand, you run back outside towards the horse. Heâs still laying on your porch and it looks like he hasnât moved a muscle. Lazy bum. You wave the apple in front of the horseâs snout, hoping to entice him to follow.
It actually works as the horse perks up and quickly stands. You keep waving the apple as you turn and head towards NRCâs stables.
Sebel and Silver watched as Riddle spiraled, freaking out over his missing horse. They had been cleaning up the stables, cleaning the horses water troughs and feeding them when Riddle screamed. His horse bolted out the stables without so much as a glance back. Things quickly descended into chaos.
âI donât understand! Why did he just take off!?â The 2 diasomnia students sighed as Riddle ran around the stables. They werenât sure who did it, but someone left the gates wide open and the horse took his chance.
Riddle was panicked, whoever left the gate open was going to get beheaded. A horse on the loose was chaos bound to happen and he didnât want to deal with the aftermath. How could this be happening to him?
The horse followed close behind you, nipping at the apple. Every time he would get close youâd yank the apple away and pick up your pace. You could see the stables now. Soon you could go back to lounging comfortably on ramshackleâs couch. You looked forward to that.
You led the horse through the gates and could see Silver and Sebek outside the stables. You waved at them. The horse tried to take advantage of your distraction and steal the apple but you pulled it away again. âHey, you 2! Does anyone know whose horse this is?â
Sebek looked shocked while Silver looked relieved. âHey, thatâs Vorpal. Heâs Riddle's horse. Where did you find him, heâs been looking all over for him.â You grunted as the horse pushed you trying to get the apple. âHe was on ramshackleâs porch. Donât ask me how he got up the stairs. I have no clue.â
Silver shook his head in amusement. âOh thank the Sevens!â You turned and smiled as your favorite redhead came into view. âRiddle, hey!â Riddle looked over at you and froze, not expecting you to be the one returning his horse.
âP-prefect, what do I owe the pleasure?â Silver and Sebek got the hint and made excuses to be elsewhere before walking into the stables. âAh, I was just bringing this big guy back. He was wandering outside ramshackle.â
âI see, well, many thanks. I was rather worried about him.â Riddle wonât meet your eyes as he fiddles with his uniform. You canât help but smile at the boy as you hand over the apple to Vorpal, who eagerly accepts it.
âWelp, Iâm heading back to ramshackle. Iâll see you around!â Vorpal nudges Riddle in your direction just as youâre about to leave and the boy gulps.
âHey, uhâŚ, prefect?â You stop and look back at him. âYes?â He clears his throat, âWould you be open minded to the idea of a date sometime? Maybe somewhere quiet, just the two of us?â
You canât help but smile softly. âI would love that, Riddle.â His head snaps up to look at you and he relaxes. âI see, how about next Saturday..? Iâll meet you in front of ramshackle around 12:00?â You nod and bid him farewell.
Riddle turns back to his horse and lets out a shaky breath. Next Saturday couldnât come fast enough.
Silver
Ahhhh, gardening. Both stress relieving and stress inducing but it gave you something to do. Youâre glad that the back of ramshackle had enough space for a garden, and that the soil was very fertile. You had quite a large vegetable garden growing. Meaning you didnât have to rely on Crowley as much for food.
You had lettuce, corn, carrots, peas, squash, tomatoes, a horse. A horse? Doing a double take, you rub your eyes thinking heat exhaustion has gotten to you. The horse doesnât disappear and keeps on eating your newly ripe tomatoes.
You had no clue where the horse came from. He wasnât there when you started picking vegetables for a stew you were gonna make for lunch. You didnât even hear him approaching.
Setting your vegetable basket down, you wander over to the horse. He doesnât react as you get closer, only lazily flicking his gray tail in your direction as if acknowledging you.
âHey there, buddy. Whereâd you come from?â He doesnât answer, heâs a horse. Why are you asking it questions? Heâs still eating your darn tomatoes.
âPlease stop eating those, Crowley gives me little food money to begin withâŚâ he seems to understand your woes and stops eating. You pat the horse's jaw and he leans into your touch.
âIâm assuming youâre from the equestrian clubâs stables. We should get you back buddy, iâm sure your rider is worried about you.
The horse lets out a snort as he follows your guide. You are glad the horse is so accepting of strangers commands as you begin your trek towards the stables.
Silver fell asleep for 30 minutes and lost his horse. Great, just great! Heâs glad itâs just him in the stables as he didnât want to hear Sebekâs loud reprimands. He already felt embarrassed enough.
Grunting as he circles the field and checks behind the stables. He lets out an exhausted sigh at the distinct lack of horse. Why did he have to fall asleep at the worst times and why could nobody remember to lock the gates after they leave?
He ventures back into the stables, hoping Samson has just magically appeared into his stall. Heâs not there and Silver wished he hadnât gotten his hopes up.
You hum as the white horse walks beside you. You canât help but feel like one of those hallmark movies where the girl befriends an animal because sheâs pure of heart.
Finally reaching the stables, you open the gate more to allow the horse to easily slip through and you follow behind. You want to make sure the horse stays and doesnât follow you back to wreak havoc on your garden.
Guiding the horse into the stables you see Silver slumped over on a chair. You think heâs sleeping until he jolts up at the sound of hooves on concrete. An uncomfortably long silence passes between you two as he looks at you then the horse and back at you.
You watch as his shoulders relax and his eyes look at you with appreciation. â___, I see you found Samson. Thank you for bringing him back here. I was worried.â You nod and give him a soft smile.
âOf course, He was in ramshackleâs garden and I had a feeling his rider would be looking for him.â Silver pushed himself of the chair and stiffly pats you on the shoulder. His horse is unimpressed with his chivalry.
âIf youâll excuse me, I need to get back to gardening. I unfortunately left my already picked vegetables in the sun.â Silver nods as he he watches you walk away, Samson lets out a loud whinny and begins pushing the boy rather hurriedly in your direction.
He huffs, pushing the horse off him before calling out to you. âHey, ___. Wait!â You look back confused. âSince you brought Samson back I think itâs only fair I do something for you. How about I help out with your garden or take you out on a dateâŚ?â
He mumbled the last part and refused to meet your eyes. âA date sounds nice, Silver. How about next Saturday?â
His cheeks burn as he clears his throat, âYes that is great. I shall see you then, ___.â You wave goodbye as you walk back to ramshackle with a wide smile.
Sebek
After you took up residency in ramshackle, you noticed how the plants around the building seemed to spring up with new life. Almost as if they were waiting for new residents to breathe life back into them.
Flowers bloomed and the trees flourished. You were hanging out under one of those trees, Grim curled up in your lap snoring away as you crammed for a history test that would come tomorrow.
Youâd been studying for hours, surely some shut eye wouldnât hurt. It would just be for a few minutes, you deserved it after all.
So why was Grim shaking you awake and why was there a heavy weight on your legs. Cracking your eyes open, you're greeted by a pitch black horse curled up near your legs, head resting on your shins.
Where did this pretty girl come from? Who knows, but she napped so peacefully on your legs you didnât have the heart to wake her but you had to. You needed to find her rider and return her. Even if the little nickers she made in her sleep melted your heart.
Grim was clutching his pearls looking at the large horse, not happy about his nap being interrupted. Groaning as you stretched your arms above your head, you felt the weight of the horse shift off you as she raised her head. She let out a slew of soft whinnies as she also stretched.
You thought it was the cutest thing ever and mourned the fact you didnât have your phone to snap some pictures. As you stood up, the horse followed suit.
Grim, not wanting to stick around the sweet beast, darted off toward ramshackle like a coward. You looked at the black horse who had no concept of personal space and sighed. Why are you always the one getting roped into fixing things?
You couldnât complain about this sweetheart though, as she nuzzled her large head into your neck and snorfed. You giggled as the whiskers on her chin tickled your neck.
âAlright sweety, alright! Letâs get you home.â You smiled as you patted her long neck. You assumed she belonged to an equestrian club member so that was your first stop.
Half way through your journey to the stables, you could have sworn you heard loud shouts quickly approaching. You could vaguely see green hair running toward you in the distance. The closer he got, the louder his shouts were until you could make out the shouter as none other than Sebek.
You waved at him and quickly made your wave over to the boy, horse in tow. He was hunched over out of breath and heaving when he looked back up at you. Eyes landing on the horse.
âTempest! You scared the thunder out of me when you took off like that!â The horse whinnied back as if sassing him and you couldnât help but let out a not-so-elegant snort.
âPrefect, thank you for finding Tempest! Now I must return her to her stable!â You nodded in understanding and Sebek tries to lead his horse away. Tempest doesnât cooperate as she bites onto your uniform sleeve and tries to drag you along with them.
You almost shriek as Sebek panics, trying to peel the horse away from you. âTempest, what has gotten into you?!â Tempest whinnies and releases her grip on you, only to begin shoving you into the boy. She doesnât stop until youâre pressed chest to chest against him.
Sebekâs face burns as he apologizes and Tempest starts stomping her hooves. âTempest! What in the Sevens has got you riled up like this?!â The boy is fumbling and apologizing as the horse almost knocks the two of you over .
You watch as Sebek's face cycles through confusion, clarity, and abject horror as he figures out what Tempest is trying to tell him.
He grumbles as he avoids eye contact, âIt seems Tempest has picked up on my affection for youâŚâ you almost miss his confession as the usually loud Sebek has fallen silent. But you didnât miss it. You heard it loud and clear.
The green haired boy almost turns and dashes off but your hand shoots out to grab his upper forearm. âOh? You're just gonna confess and dip? Just like that?â You snicker, âYouâre not even going to wait to hear me say I have affection for you too?â Sebek jumps but quickly tries to hide his embarrassment.
âW-well, if you also bear affection towards me then I suppose taking you out on a date would be the knightly thing to doâŚ?â Heâs hesitant, maybe even worried that youâre just going to laugh in his face. You would never.
âI suppose so. Then, should we meet at ramshackle for our date next Friday?â You tease, watching his poor face turn redder and redder. He nods before turning and guiding Tempest back towards the stables.
Sebekâs inexperience with love amuses you andbyou canât wait for what date idea he has in mind. Before you can dwell on it, your heart drops. You were studying for a test and you left your books outside on the ground.
You should probably get back to that.
Authors notes: Iâm camping rn and the internet sucks absolute ass, the internet has gone out twice while trying to post this and I didnât even write the damn thing on tumblr, I did it on google docs đ
