          ❝ woah! ❞ the initial exclamation came accompanied with a laugh as the force at which vanya hurled herself at him almost knocked klaus clean off his feat. regaining his balance, the amusement slowly faded as the fourth realised the emotional weight behind the situation. smile quickly being replaced with a small frown, he spoke again, tone immediatly shifting to one of concern as he wrapped his arms tightly around his sister.

the arms around him may have held a ghostly chill, but the embrace was warm. familiar and familial. of course, it was an emotional moment, the first proper hug between them in years. that time that ben had managed to punch him, that had been the springboard — since then efforts had been made, klaus attempting to learn the true potential of his powers, to be able to conjure and sustain his brother in ( at least ) a semi-corporeal form, to be able to actually interact with others. yes, they had managed it, and physical interactions between the fourth and the sixth had become a little more common place, in the form of playful squabbles and occasional scraps. 

the first time he’d hugged his brother in 17 years was to say goodbye.

          ❝ really...? ❞ an absent-minded hum in response, a slight frown crossing the fourth’s lips as his gaze lay fixed on the night sky; green hues staring up at the billions of stars that littered the inky blackness. klaus wasn’t exactly sure what possessed him to join luther up on the roof, but... he was glad that he had done. he’d never been close to the first, but this was... nice, and klaus was thankful for the moment of calm. taking a long drag from his cigarette, the fourth let out a deep sigh, watching the smoke he exhaled as it drifted up and disappeared into the air.

and since when did klaus take anything seriously? a habit he found difficult to break. even now, with the deep wound in his side, blood pooling around him, the fourth had an amused smile plastered across his features; just another attempt to hide his true fears behind humour.
