The soil drank all of the sky's tears

Came

The men with their metal death

Fell

Their tools and the Earth split apart

Clear

The green erased to brown.

Time

Waits amused, chuckling softly

Humans

A cucumber sandwich

Who knows why

People keep greed

As their best friend,

Or why they hide

And they've all gone to bed,

Dreaming up reality and fiction,

For those in this room,

We raise our cups,

The stars will stir the cold wind

Wake the tree song,

A new day sings to us

Beckoning us to harken

Sketching cliffs and canyons,

Drawing new cultures and ideas,

Painting entirely new civilizations,

Just by continuing forward.

I know though that the rock is tough,

That it takes times to fashion deltas,

But fashion you must.

Stagnate and pool,

Become dammed up,

Simply still yourself,

You will find that Nature,

Will take every opportunity,

To nestle in your calm.

You are a river though my love,
