A unhinged Soryu who lost his beloved until he looks like this. This really makes my day after all those works and now I can't stop staring at him in this state. I don't know why, but he seems cool for me, though the story behind this idea is sad 🥺✨

Yet, I really enjoyed drawing this commission and I couldn't stop squealing while drawing him like this (trust me, it happened 🤣👍✨)

to those unfamiliar with the current eisuke lore or w/e, their second child (pictured above) is named Kaito. the story is set at time when kaito’s been long born and has grown to be a cute little boi. he’s very innocent (much like eito before the eisuke genes settled in), and both eito and eisuke are very sweet to him in turn. he’s old enough to be aware that his brother and father don’t get along, but not old enough to realize this is something that can’t be fixed

Baba

            He knew you cheated on him. Not just once. But multiple times.  He pretended to be a fool though. To keep you by his side. The most painful thing was not the fact that you had an affair. But you leaving him. Baba would be his usual cheerful self but he would certainly try his hardest to stop you from meeting your secret lover. He knew you would have a lunch date with someone so he would ask you to accompany him to a party or just go with him for a window shopping. He would pull your hand and refuse to listen while grinning from ear-to-ear to mask his sadness. When you wanted to discuss something with him, he would pretend he’s busy or he had to leave.

            In the end, your conscience could not take it anymore and you wanted to tell him what happened because he deserved it. Baba deserved to know that your heart no longer belonged to him.

“Listen—,” you said with all seriousness but Baba covered your mouth to stop you from saying anything.

“I know what you’re going to say.”

“Then why?” your words stuck in your throat but your eyes told it all.

“I wish you’re a better liar and I’ll be much happier,” Baba caressed your cheek lovingly and there was a faint kind smile on his face.

“Baba…,” your voice trailed off as if you were about to cry.

“You’re not the one who broke off with me. I’m the one who dumped you so don’t be sorry,” he forced a smile. “Be happy with him.”

Mamoru

            It’s a faint men’s cologne on your neck and some phone calls in the middle of the night that gave away your affair. He investigated you thoroughly and did a lot of thinking on his own about your relationship. But then you showed up at a restaurant with Eisuke.

            He walked to your table and dropped a folder on top of you. Photos and documents fell like rain and each was a proof of your affair with Eisuke.

“I trusted you until the last minute,” Mamoru said, trying to hide the pain in his voice. But damn, it hurt so bad. He could not hide it. His voice was angry but his eyes were sad. Sad and lonely. She’s important to him more than any person ever been in his life. And that was why her betrayal hurt so bad. Mamoru felt like someone sliced his heart into two.

He was waiting for you to defend yourself, to say that you regretted everything or that Mamoru was just hallucinating and Eisuke was just a friend. But no, she slowly looked away from Mamoru and locked gaze with Eisuke as if she was asking for his help.

Mamoru was so done with you because you decided to rely on Eisuke even until the last minute.

“Don’t show yourself in front of me again. You don’t exist in my life anymore.”

Eisuke: Animals never being able to get along with him haha.  Not that he’d ever admit it, but to be utterly and entirely alone.

He’s been on his own for most of life, and he hasn’t even realized how lonely he really was until he met the MC. Honestly, I think the MC serves as his Living Emotional Crutch—without her, he’d completely lose it. It might be a bit of a stretch, but I’d like to say that he is dependent on her, and not the other way around, despite how their relationship dynamic is portrayed. If his character were written a bit darker, I wouldn’t put it past him to destroy anything that could potentially be an obstacle to them, trapping the MC in a poisonous, all take-no give relationship. In the most extreme case, he’d have the potential to be a yandere. Damn.

Soryu: Not being able to protect someone he truly cared about.

Time and time again, this is what Soryu would promise the MC each time their relationship would progress. Though to be honest, I think he’s trying to reassure himself more than the MC. Soryu’s the kind of person who lives religiously by a code of honor, and protecting someone he loves is number one on his list. If he ever failed to uphold that, he wouldn’t just be losing a loved one, he’d be damaging his most fundamental principles as an individual. Honestly, he would rather die than force himself to live with his greatest failure.

Baba: Being trapped in something he’d never be able to escape from.

Baba, being the adventurous and uninhibited person he is, enjoys freedom with a passion. He’s always doing one unpredictable thing after another to keep things interesting, and he prefers living life that way. Moreover, I think this is one of the reasons why he enjoys his job as a thief, besides fulfilling his childhood goal. If he were to be restricted in any way whatsoever, I don’t think he’d be able to handle it—especially if he wouldn’t have a way out. Being a thief, it is imperative that Baba have an escape route for everything. Not being able to escape from something is a huge blow to his sense of freedom as a thief and a person. In fact, I can especially see him avoiding lifestyles that require strict routines.

Ota: To be betrayed by someone he loved and trusted—again.

After being betrayed once by someone he trusted deeply, Ota had to create his angelic persona to prevent this from ever happening again. It was very difficult for him and the MC to start a relationship because his previous experiences always reminded him not to put faith in others anymore. I’m going to assume this is why he loves teasing the MC—his sly and sadistic personality aside, he constantly teases her to test her, to see if she’ll really stick with him or leave. If she ever betrayed him, he wouldn’t be able to take it a second time—he’d completely change as a person. Nothing would make him open up his heart to anyone ever again.

Mamoru: Being forced to kill someone he loved for the sake of the greater good.

He already lost someone important to him once, but being the one to end his loved one’s life? Hell, no. Being a detective, it isn’t unusual to assume that he’d one day have to choose between the greater good and the life of his loved one. If he ever got to cross that bridge, he’d be conflicted between his morals, albeit somewhat jaded, and his happiness. He may have lost most of his motivation as a detective, but Mamoru shows that he still has his principles intact. If the MC were put into that situation, she’d most likely ask him to choose the others over her, and that would destroy him even more. If he were unable to save either of them, he’d never be able to live with the crippling guilt of his decision.

Bonus:

MC: Not being good enough for anything.

Note: (I’m not talking about you as the player character, but rather the MC presented to us in the narrative)

As featureless as the protagonist may seem, there’s one trait of hers that constantly shows itself time and time again—her complete lack of self-worth. She criticizes herself often over everything she does, and the fact that she’s surrounded by the elite bidders most of the time doesn’t help, either. When she gets into a relationship with any of the bidders, she’ll often berate herself for not being pretty enough, smart enough, strong enough—anything enough for her boyfriend. I assume this is why she always withholds her needs from her partner and tries to overcompensate in the relationship. Her feelings of inadequacy, added with her nurturing nature keep her from asserting herself. I wanna give you a hug, MC.

Possibly. It’s a little difficult to tell because the game never outright shows it, but there are some subtle signs that suggest it. Maybe it’s wishful thinking and projecting on my part, but I’d like to believe he does harbor some feelings to her in other routes lmao
