Introductions || Arret and Charles
"In the beginning, I couldn’t help it. I fed on men, women, and children alike. It is indeed possible to die of fright." She sighed. "I’m not proud of it. But I’m better than that now. I don’t lose control unless I haven’t fed in a very, very long time. Which is why I try to keep myself in check. I give little frights, here and there. Exams, marital issues, you see it wherever you go." She shrugged. I don’t have as much of an issue keeping myself fed as I used to. Circumstances were different back then."
"Back…when?" Charles asked. "And if you have to do it to survive, it’s hardly something to be ashamed of." He shrugged. "Perhaps that’s naïve of me to say, but no one…died." His eyes narrowed a bit. "Well, at least they don’t have to, so there’s no harm in it I suppose. No real harm anyways. It could be much worse."
"Back when I was still under the boogeyman's control. I was his pet, you see. I fed when he said I could." Her gaze fixated on him. "You don't listen well, do you? People did die. But not for lack of resisting. I was practically starved then. I'd take until there was nothing left." She sighed, dipping her finger in her coffee, pouting when she found it had gone cold. "But, that's in the past. Now I'm out, declaring my independence, as it were. And it's not half bad, either." She chuckled. "I suppose this conversation would have been a lot easier for you if I had just said I was indeed a mutant, eh? Of course, you would have known that I was lying."
