CHit ChAt with de MOUNtain maN………..!!
Moving towards the dining hall, I was slowly & calmly threatened by a strange sense of nerve cracking chillness as its for first time ever something memorable is .going to happen. While thinking all these stuffs it was a moment of shock when i realized that man i was looking for is in front of me, having his usual breakfast quiet unusually than typical mallus or rather Indians as such @11o’clock in the morning, just having arrived after confirming tickets for his journey back to Mumbai via Bangalore(now Bengaluru).
• The atmosphere was a bit gloomy & rain gods were too kind too…….
• A sense of incompleteness was appearing through his face while having his breakfast that too quiet unusual - IDIAPPAM (South Indian Dish) with sambar(kind of Dal curry mostly in South India).
• It was really awesome to watch the way he was having his food, and was really enjoying every bit of it.
• Having only 20 mins left i had to hurry through my questions, it (feeling) was like an amateur to an amateur.
• Well I am in conversation with HARISH.V aka Darkwoods Deeproots, aspiring Artist, Amateur photographer & freelance Art Director by profession, Won Silver at CANON ALL INDIA BEST AMATEUR PHOTOGRAPHER competition held in Mumbai & is currently based in Mumbai…….
TELL US SOMETHING ABOUT YOUR CHILDHOOD & ITS MEMORIES
It was all good, especially the time being spent with my mom & family & also my aunt & her daughter, my cousin sister.
YOUR SCHOOLING & INCLINATION TOWARDS ARTS
Well, I had done my schooling from various institutions & talking about art, basically, my dad was an artist, & he used to take me & my younger sister to art classes, Chitrakala Mandalam, and various exhibitions. Basically i was gifted with sketching & shading etc;….i guess (with laugh).
YOUR MENTOR & SUPPORT FROM FAMILY
As i said, my dad was my Guru & he along with my mom supported me all the way, although my mom didn’t know a single piece of art & stills.
TIME SPEND IN COLLEGE & SPECIAL MEMORIES RELATED TO IT
I was not at all interested in fine arts, because I just wanted it to be my hobby rather than my profession. I was interested in automobile engineering & it was indeed my dad’s desire that forced me to join Fine arts College, Trivandrum(Thiruvanathapuram), & to be honest it took me seven long years to complete, & talking about special moments, I remember an incident where one of my friends called me & said hey bro, you look like Metal(Genre Of Music).
FIRST STEP TOWARDS PHOTOGRAPHY
I randomly started clicking.
EARLIER ASSIGNMENTS & JOBS
During my early stages, just after college, I used to be an art instructor at Pangode Military Campus, sponsored by AWWA, and used to earn RS.2000 per month & had some freelance works too.
HARISH & MUSIC, IF ANY (PERSON), WHO INSPIRED YOU INTO LISTENING
Music is my day to day affair, it’s just like 24*7, & it influences my works. Of course , there is a person , who influenced & inspired me to get into music(metal), fortunately or unfortunately, his name too is Hari ( aka Hari chettan), he is 47 right now & listening to music since past 35 years. He doesn’t create anything but rather enjoys music like myself.
THE N-CONNECTION OR NATURE CONNECTION
An unexplainable love with nature, influenced by roots in my art work.
MUMBAI & EARLY DAYS OF LIFE THERE
It’s been 3 years, since, I have been there; during early periods, it was good experience, because of its open culture, where people accept you for what you are and not by your looks. It was vice versa (in Trivandrum), were my room was my world. I love streets in Mumbai & its life, although its (Mumbai) a CONCRETE JUNGLE but I still like it.
VIEWS ON THIRVANANTHAPURAM, ITS DEVELOPMENT IN THE FIELD OF ART, DURING THIS DECADE, WHEN COMPARED TO A CERTAIN PUNE OR KOLKATA
Don’t know about that, seriously!! But still, I think, its gradually developing. Still there needs to be a lot of changes in the attitude of people towards art.
VIEWS ON INTERNET OR SOCIAL NETWORKING SITES & ITS IMPACT ON ARTIST
It’s simply the easiest medium through which an artist can easily put his work up in the 21st century.
HARISH AS AN ARTIST OR AS A PHOTOGRAPHER
Well, it’s tough question to answer like whom do you love the most, mom or dad? (giggles)
• by the way, I am not an artist but an art student and not a photographer but an amateur, & in a way proud that I’ve been able to do both & just happy for my talents.
YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH YOUR FAMILY
Earlier, I used to be rebellious but now have learned a lot many lessons that now its all good.
ANY LINKUPS OR AFFAIRS OR EVEN BREAKUPS IN LIFE SO FAR
Yeah, I had breakups in the past (silence) & now currently in a relationship.
HOW DO YOU RATE THE SCENE OF AN ARTIST OR ELSE THE DEVELOPMENT OF ART AS FIELD IN INDIA AS A WHOLE
Its developing but comparing with rest of world, it has a long way to go.
FUTURE PROJECTS & ENDEAVORS
It’s as simple as that, earn my living by selling my art works & do some traveling across India (laughs)
FAVORITE DESTINATION POINT, WHICH YOU NEVER BEEN & WOULD LIKE TO VISIT IN NEAR FUTURE & WHY?
Himalayas. Its just because am a MOUNTAIN MAN & its DIVINE MOMENT OF TRUTH (DMT).
There had been some good & bad moments, met some amazing people but on the whole, its pretty good & glad for what I am today.
YOUR ADVICE TO YOUNGISTAN, WHO ARE NEW TO THIS PROFESSION OR ARE WILLING TO PURSUE IT (ART) AS THERE PROFESSION
All I can say is, ART CAN BE LIKE A FEATHER OR MACHINE GUN.
