Question: Can a Pippins hold off from gambling for more than a week?
Process/Thoughts: As a Pippins myself, I found this hard to believe. Subject P01 volunteered for this experiment, and I was happy to oblige. We decided to go cold turkey for accurate results. No gambling of any sort. Not even a simple game of Blackjack.
Thursday. Subject P01 began the day as normal. He headed to work. I wonder if he likes his current job more than his previous one. No signs of gambling, nor withdrawal. Today was a successful day.
Friday. Subject P01 showed signs of withdrawal and tension. The Subject was slightly on edge, and his work wasn’t as good as usual. I hope tomorrow will be a little better as the week progresses.
Saturday. The Subject clocked in late today. It’s as if he barely slept last night. His work has degraded and became sloppy. Subject P01 is showing signs of anxiety. He is at the point where he needs to be held back from gambling. Hopefully, tomorrow will be easier for both of us.
Sunday. Subject P01 didn’t come into work today.
Monday. Subject P01 was found behind the bar, drunk out of his mind. He hadn’t gambled, but found something to cope with the withdrawal symptoms.. but I’m afraid he just ended up worse.
Tuesday. The Subject did not come to work today either. He cooped up in his apartment, refusing to leave. He mentioned symptoms of insomnia and intense anxiety. The alcohol did make it worse.
Wednesday. The last day of the experiment. I’d say I got valuable information from this week. After the day ends the Subject will be able to go back to gambling as normal.
Conclusion: A Pippins is capable of holding back from gambling, however, this might cause serious withdrawals and setbacks in the first week or so.
