Molly:

Not my original hc but I found this one and loved it: Molly and Lorelai both know sign language from their mother. Giovanni is also more than willing to learn with Molly sign language too.

Instead of a bubble, Molly now shapes her epithet into little bear earmuffs and can control how much noise she’d like to dumb out.

Molly is sick of toys. Like, she’d much rather appreciate it if you gifted her a sleeping mask, clothes with the right textures, or something practical. She would never say no to anything bear-related though.

If she overuses her epithet, there’s a side-effect of feeling numb both physically and emotionally. Like she had been “dumbed down.” She can’t feel anything brushing against her skin. Nor can she feel appropriate emotions to given situations (ex: feeling happy to see her friends or even being angry at Lorelai).

One time, she was numb for such a long time that after the effect subsided, she felt a pang of fear all at once at the thought that next time, she might just be stuck like that.

Sylvester:

Sylvie is able to name all his sheep no matter how alike they look. Some are named after people who they’d like to remember fondly, even if it had been years ago.

Sometimes, his yearning subconscious would shape his sheep into familiar-looking versions of his friends. He doesn’t always catch himself doing it though. All they know was that it was somehow comforting. (This was a fun Easter egg in one of my posts. Hehe.)

“Aww, this one’s wool look like cute bear ears!”

“Oh? Oh. Oh! Wha- what a coincidence right?? That definitely didn’t mean anything or something- Nope!!”

Sylvie has an embarrassing squish (platonic crush) on Molly. He would go lengths to impress and get closer to her. At the same time, Feenie is obsessively crushing over him. Trixie mistakes Sylvie’s squish as a romantic crush and is tiredly watching this triangle dynamic from the side.

“Gross… Aren’t you at least 30? You have a job and a degree, don’t you? Look, just because you’ve got a baby face, it doesn’t make you any less of a creep-o weirdo who’s going for a 7th grader like Molly.”

“…….huh?”

Sylvie never knows how to respond to Feenie’s expensive gift-giving and extra special notes she sends his way. Feenie excitedly takes his awkwardness as “signs” that he reciprocates! While Trixie just eye rolls as her friend shares about their “moments.”

“I’m pretty sure you just scared him with all your rich girl gifts.”

“What ever do you mean?? They only cost 5,000 dollars!”

In contrast to Molly, who lived in a neglectful household, Sylvie grew up with parents who overcoddled him. Absolutely hated it and is the reason why he went no-contact. (I have it more in detail here)

Sylvie reacts badly to secrets and is quick to assume the worst. He’s had history of people lying and going behind his back before (like stealing credit) so he gets super anxious when people are whispering or are trying to hide something.

Sylvie is a demi-boy but hasn’t figured that out yet because he has “more important stuff” to do or whatever. They have used the title “Dr.” to avoid gendered terms like “Sir or Mr.” and yet STILL has never figured out that uncomfy feeling until they became friends with Trixie.

They cannot curse to save their life. They just keep hesitating and will just turn to say “What the frick-.”

Sylvie is nocturnal and likes to schedule his appointments, DnD campaigns and work in the later hours of the day, when he’s more active.

They write in a diary journal as a way of releasing his pent up feelings (especially loneliness.) Though, he insists it’s full of only study and research work if anyone asks about it.

He comically dismisses ideas of a sleepover because he doesn’t want anyone to find out that when he sleeps, his dreams sometimes show up in dream dust above his head like this:

That and because he doesn’t like admitting he sleeps-in most days and how he whines like a 7yr old when being woken up.

Sylvie likes fidgets (NOT toys) and keeps a variety for his anxiety or whenever his hands get jittery and restless while working. His yo-yo is one of them, which he always carries around. He’s given a stress toy once to Rick only for it to end up like:

Giovanni:

Giovanni is Grayromantic and Asexual. He’s still bi, but romance just doesn’t make sense to him and is thus, almost never in his mind since he finds it ridiculous how high on a pedestal societal expectations place it above platonic relationships. Why can’t both be just as important??

Giovanni’s favorite movie of all time is Megamind. He would repeat iconic phrases from the movie as a vocal stim.

Giovanni has a feedback box because he wants his minions to have the freedom to voice complaints. It’s a tissue box that is always empty and is always on the verge of collapse because people keep sitting on it. It has also been replaced tons of times because it repeatedly gets mistaken for trash.

The other reason he has a feedback box at all (despite its clear uselessness) is also linked to his deepest fear of “letting his minions/friends down, causing them to leave and betray him.” Remember the bears scene in the museum arc? Yeah…. :(( Thus, he always wants to improve to be the best boss he could be!!

You can’t tell me he hasn’t been severely bullied at school. He has bitten, kicked and thrown balls at bullies in retaliation but was still the only one sent to the principal instead of the perpetrator themselves. This was the origin story of his hatred for stupid unfair rules and authority figures.

He’s mostly gotten over his bullies and has grown up from his violent retaliations since then (not completely). But it still hurts when people are being condescending and treat him like he’s stupid. Like with Lorelai who thought she could get away with lying to him. Or when Martin insulted his “Vincent Murder” outfit. It brings him back to those bullying days.

Back when they were much younger, Giovanni took interest in Trixie’s “alleged” ability to see ghosts. So much that he went all in to search up the opportunities of that concept. Like come on, being the outcast in both the Roughhouse family and possibly school must’ve took a toll on him, right?

The bullying was so bad that his search history is...a bit sad :(

But the GREAT GIOVANNI doesn’t just take it and mope! If you want change, you must BE the change!! >:DD Which is why he’s so dedicated to being a good boss and lead in world domination! So that everyone is on the same side and no one has to feel alone like little Potage did!

Yeah, he dropped out of school to pursue “better horizons” and leave his past filled with enemies behind.

Due to his epithet, he is more prone to hypernatremia. So when he says to “drink more water,” he MEANS it. Both as a reminder to himself and others. His moms had to rush him to a hospital after he suffered a nosebleed and collapsed as a child once.

When he says he’s great at guitar, he actually means he’s an unbeaten player in Guitar Hero.

Gio’s “Roughhouse” mother (not GioMommy/Rhonda Potage), wanted to distance herself from the tiring criminal life her family name had. So she married and took “Potage” as her own. Pretty mundane name, isn’t it? Imagine her dismay when her son grew a fascination into the exciting life of a supervillain.

She wishes to leave those days behind and live a calm lifestyle of selling oils and crystals. But there are times when her “Roughhouse” side comes out. Especially when it comes to scolding her son.

She gets upset at her brother/sister(??) every time Giovanni gets beat up by their family. Though they insist they’re just encouraging the “Roughhouse” blood that was running through his veins.

As much as both of Giovanni’s moms allow him to do whatever he wants, they’re also unfortunately “enablers.”

Like, they do very little about their son’s bullies at school and instead, scold him for getting into trouble. Especially Roughhouse mom, who doesn’t like encouraging any retaliation because it ties back to her rowdy family history.

Even when it comes to his cousins, sometimes it’s just “family being family.” “Instead of roughhousing, resolve conflict by being the better person and turn away.” Giovanni thinks it’s stupid. It’s the reason he distastes and sneaks around them often. Besides them discouraging “crime things” of course. Moms just don’t understand you well >:((

He doesn’t hate them per se, it’s just complicated. They’re flawed parents that he still loves. Ultimately, while their relationship with their son is a little strained, they only want what’s best for Giovanni.

My hc for Giovanni’s epiphany story (how he discovered his epithet) is as follows:

He was one of those kids who tried scanning the dictionary in the hopes of finding his word. But he got bored barely through it and started drawing on the pages with the highlighter he was using. (Unfortunately, it was a library book and his moms had to pay fees for the damage)

“How am I going to be a supervillain if I don’t have any superpowers????”

Despite discouragement and teasing from his cousins and classmates, Gio insisted he has one, even if it lead him to try dangerous situations. He’s a menace…

One time, his mom was making soup for lunch. His bowl had gotten cold after he stubbornly refused to stop epithet hunting to go inside and eat. He didn’t like the cold soup and wished he could reheat it. Guess what? It did :)

For the longest time, he thought his epithet was related to heat or “FIERY FLAMES!!” The time he tried to prove to Xerxes that he had a fire epithet was an attempt at eating the “forbidden candy” from the grill. (He burned his tongue obvs)

The next time his parents made soup for dinner was when he figured it all out. To say he was ecstatic was an understatement. Now from then on, Rhonda would often scold him for playing with his food and making soup bubbles.

Rick:

Being full ocean-race, Rick’s eyes and hair can glow in the dark on command

The red strands on his head indicate his age. Since he’s 20yrs old now, he currently has 4. This means he gains a new strand every 5 years. He used to proudly go to his parents about it like a child would whenever they grew taller.

He is both touch-averse AND touch-starved. Not a fun combo :((

Rick is oblivious to most things. BUT he isn’t stupid when it comes to his soul strings. His epithet allows him a heightened sense of empathy and he can absolutely FEEL if a bond has soured.

This means he was absolutely aware if a prisonmate from his colosseum days is only using him for free “proficiency points” and has zero fondness for him at all. Rick just actively chooses never to address, think hard about it, or to call them “fake friends” because hey! One soul bond is still a point away from being powerless and not breathing, right? Besides,

“If you feel every time someone suffers (including yourself), it hurts too much to think about! :D”

Rick’s pushiness with soul bonding went from “I need to gain as much friends as I can so I won’t be defenceless and die in this strange world” into —> “I need to befriend everyone I like so I can rest easy knowing where my dear friends are and that they’re okay :,))”

When he’s alone or needs reassurance, Rick would summon his soul strings and just stare long and hard at them. Though this also means people will question the black glowing heart appearing on their chest, to which he brushes off as “Just flexing my wizard powers, my friends!” Only Molly knows otherwise for now and would comfort him in private, reminding him of her promise to never shatter their bond.

You know you’re in deep shit if this guy is the one who breaks his soul bond with you instead of the other way around. Because like, he’s never done that before. EVER.

Rick’s reading skills are horribly rusty and don’t meet the standard of someone his age should. He could read short words but starts struggling beyond 2-syllables. The only reason he could read, text, or write fluently is if he’s borrowing someone else’s literacy ability.

Phoenica doesn’t approve of this of course, but she’s more than happy to personally teach Rick herself after school. The NeoTrio all agree that including him in their study sessions helps them remember their material better too for upcoming tests. (Teaching someone else helps with integrating knowledge!! ^^)

My peak fav headcanon for this man is that further along his self-healing journey, he starts wearing his glasses on his head instead of on his face. Symbolising how comfortable he’s gotten of just being “Odi” around his trusted friends.

The order of revealing “Odi” to his friends is Molly, Trixie and Feenie together, Sylvie, then Giovanni.

Rick is more prone to heatstroke and collapsing under the sun since he’s not used to it.

Rick’s strength and sharp reflexes from growing up in an arena has shocked and confused his friends time and time again. (Ben couldn’t use his right arm for a week after Rick gave him a punch as a “customary surface greeting.”)

He also lore dumps pretty casually. Like, he’d just mention not getting to eat for days or how he once broke a wrist after someone threw him against the arena wall and then immediately go back to arts and crafts.

The concept of playfighting and battling just for fun without necessarily knocking your opponent out cold is still a foreign concept to him. Sooo uhhh….watch out.

There was a period of time where Rick had temporary mind-reading powers while under the false impression that Sylvie could.

The reason Rick sticks around Sylvie despite protests (besides genuine admiration and liking his company), is that he recognises a familiar pain. Sylvie’s fidgeting and awkwardness and sad attempts at socialising? Hey! Rick struggles with making friends too! He’s empathetic to the silent pain because he’s felt severe loneliness before too. Maybe he could help lessen that?

The question is why, unlike him, is Sylvie trying to hide this desire for friends so much? It’s nothing to be ashamed of…. So why?

Redwood Run:

Percy uses the most niche and bizarre swears that only everyone’s grandmother must’ve heard and will still scold herself for losing her composure around kids.

Percy also sleeptalks what sounds like passages from the law in exact word-for-word. Ramsey swears he could graduate with a Law degree to accompany his Art degree at this rate.

Ramsey tends to exaggerate his story of evading Zora just to earn himself good favours and a reputation from other prisoners. Percy keeps him in check though.

“Strange. I don’t seem to recall the incident like that at all.”

Percy keeps a Lego collection :)

Zora having sun tattoos that glow when using her powers is canon, change my mind.

Ramsey having a gold scar on his right arm that got chopped by Zora is also canon to me.

Percy had unknowingly saved Ramsey’s life years ago before they even properly met. It was the night Ramsey lost an eye to a Mundie. They were about to kill him when the police arrived in the area, distracting the offender enough to give him enough time to escape. Percy was part of the police force that night. Neither of them know this and will probably never find out about this.

Howie and Calliope were close friends since college, bonding over their shared love of disciplined work until she started seeing Martin. Martin’s carelessness placed a wedge between their friendship as they started meeting up less and less (Plus, Howie gets a headache just from looking at this guy.)

Eventually, he gave up trying to reach out and assumed she’s moved on with a family. Which means, so should he. It stung like a bad hornet sting, but that’s just life, he supposed.

Post-fire incident, Howie feels awful for not even bothering to stop by their house at all. Not even for a small visit. Maybe he could’ve fixed the fire alarm that night. The best he could do now was help the Blyndeffs find another store. Up until today, this is what he often broods about (besides work.)

No one knows about this, but he’s anxious and too ashamed to see the Blyndeff sisters and being reminded of Calliope’s features, which would be staring right back at him. Maybe one day he’ll build up the courage again to check in. (Imagine his shock when he discovers Molly just went missing lol)

Zora gets less energy and is slower during times and areas with no sun. She is only at her peak when the sun is too. She also heals a lot faster when sunbathing.

The Banzais that killed Zora’s parents had epithets, and for a while she resented all Inscribed people. When she found out she had one herself, let’s just say she didn’t take it well. (She still has some hidden scars from that difficult time in her life under her sleeves.)

Zora went through a process of self-hatred, then a stage where she desperately tried levelling her powers up in the hopes of rewinding time back when things were happier before settling to being a bounty hunter instead. It’s why she’s so personally frustrated with “not being able to reverse things once it’s been done.”

Prison of Plastic:

Phoenica is Cupioromantic. When she gets older, she found it very difficult to come to terms with that fact.

Trixie has hideouts everywhere. And I mean, everywhere. Abandoned buildings? Junkyard? Alley? Usually you can tell by the presence of shiny christmas lights that outline the entrances.

Lorelai struggles to sleep. The last time she let herself sleep without worry costed their house and their mom’s life. So now she stays up late in her worlds. When she finally looks at her reflection, she notices she has eyebags that rival Molly’s.

Trixie found Sylvie’s presence annoying since he seems to be taking all her two besties’ attention away and it makes them insecure asf. That is, until they unintentionally helped him find out that he’s not a boy at all after they offhandedly mentioned their non-binary experience.

Sylvie’s curiosity and interest led to one conversation after another and now they’re both on the floor. Talking nonstop about ghosts, the anxiety of being around ppl, and rambling about “feeling worthless when you fail to keep being good at the thing people expect you to.”

Lorelai has drawn and used her epithet to create concepts of what kids between her and Vincent would look like. But only when the windows and room door is shut and she’s under the blankets. Because she’ll die if anyone finds out about it. (Cringe 🫵)

The funny thing (sort of) is that Giovanni is faaaaaaaaaar away from ever considering a family. Like, why would he? He’s already got kids of his own in his villain organisation that he loves very much.

Even if he ever does find out, he’ll just think “WOAH- A FUSION OF US?? YEAH!! THINK OF THE IMMENSE POWER WE’LL HAVE AS ONE BODY!!!!”

His nickname came from the time he tensed up after Giovanni shot him a compliment, causing him to crush the soda can in his hand. Their friends teased how they should call him “Crusher” because of how obvious he was. Giovanni agreed only because: “Ohh, because of the crushing part! Sick! Really fits you!!”

Spike: (Sierra)

Assigned Weapons specialist (Can find a way to make a weapon from any 2-3 random items you give her)

A Dyslexic high-school drop out

Remembers what insult you said 3 weeks ago but keeps losing stuff she had in her hand for a few mins. (She relies on Darkstar for spare hair ties)

Her fav member to go to the mall with is Darkstar. She’s had him have match earrings and friendship bands with her during one of their trips.

She earned her Banzai name because of her love for popping up absolutely out of nowhere to jump scare people. She “spikes” everyone’s heart rate because of her pranks and shenanigans. The absolute queen of heart attacks.

She enjoys having a friendly light-hearted rivalry with Crusher over Gio’s affections

DarkStar: (Lance)

Assigned Tech Genius. (By that, it means he can figure and bribe out anyone’s wifi password)

Also the assigned lock-picker (using his stash of hairpins)

17 yrs old

Attends the same school as Flamethrower and Ben and is about to graduate along with the former.

He’s not able to attend all of Flamethrower’s cheerleading practices at the gym like Ben, even though he wishes he could. But when he does, he’s the one FT trusts the most with the camera.

Darkstar is also the chill guy to FT’s fiery hot temper. He could calm him down with an easy nudge.

Has a laptop full of pirated movies for casual or emergency movie nights

You cannot convince me that Darkstar doesn’t have glow in the dark stars in his room’s ceiling.

His answer to any unexplainable scenario is “Aliens.” Whether or not he’s serious or messing with people, not even his friends know.

His epithet is “Binary.” Which means he can create a minimum of one clone of a subject. He can choose to make the clone the exact opposite of the other or not. (Ex: He can have 2 hot cookies OR 1 hot and 1 cold cookie)

Though, Darkstar mostly uses his epithet for comedic and aesthetic purposes rather than combat and actually being useful. He doesn’t have as much of a strong desire to develop his epithet as much as Giovanni.

Headcanon Lore Dump!!

He didn’t like being an Inscribed before Gio joined the Banzais. He fears that an epithet completely defines who you are and will become and worried that “Binary” will doom him with an office job, restricting him from pursuing his interests for outer space. (His mom had already over-researched every pathway where “Binary” could be an advantage).

So for a while, he kept his epithet a secret. He doesn’t need anyone else to tell him how “LuCkY” he is and give him lectures on how he’s wasting his potential.

Giovanni was the first to find out despite being the last to join their Banzai group. At first, he was shocked to know anyone would want to get rid of their epithet. But he managed to gradually convince Darkstar to accept what is literally a part of himself. Without any dumb lectures and further judgement of course! For once, DS feels validated and not pressured :))

That being said… He earned his Banzai name after winning so many star stickers from Giovanni’s show-and-tell competitions (totally not from cheating using his powers). Combine that with the time when DS finally confessed that he’s an Inscribed to the rest of the Boys.

Fred commented how “dark” it was when he admits that the clones he makes just kinda… vanish away like they never existed despite having the same consciousness as the OG person. His defense? They weren’t real anyways and vanishing probably didn’t even hurt. (At least he hopes so….)

Giovanni had suggested the name “Darkstar” very excitedly like he was the one who earned the nickname, lol. He’s so proud of Lance for being more open with his powers on his own terms 🥺.

(Lol, his wiki page is bare so I can’t help but add depth to him. I thought it’d be interesting to further explore people who didn’t like being born with powers.)

Flamethrower: (Devon)

Assigned Parkour Expert

He’s the most athletic and flexible Boy from being a cheerleader on weekends with a respectable 3-star stamina stat. It’s higher than most of his teammates and rivals Crusher’s.

18 yrs old.

Attends the same school as DarkStar and Ben and is about to graduate at the end of year.

Has a temper and is VERY passionate. He NEVER backs down from a challenge even if it’s against the odds. (His weakness? If you call him a wuss, he’ll give in to whatever you say.)

His nickname came from tossing a burning toaster out through a window. And this incident kept happening again and again until they settled with “Flamethrower.” He is SOMEHOW able to burn anything in the kitchen, including juice.

While he disguises it, Flamethrower sees Ben as his annoying little brother

He likes collecting a bunch of Hot Wheels sets. (CarCrash has begged him to keep them off the floor so he’ll stop slipping. Unfortunately, Flamethrower keeps forgetting.)

Has scratches and rips on all his clothes for being a klutz. If there aren’t any, they’re either new clothes or that CarCrash is an imposter.

Is a nervous wreck and terrible at improvising. Never trust him with confrontations and lying on the spot.

Ben:

The Assigned Fall Guy

16 yrs old (Babyyyyy)

He has been held back a year or two in school.

He has a dog named “Benji,” a pitbull terrier with the soul of a golden retriever. Despite having a “Beware of Dog” sign in his yard, Benji has never actually shown aggression to anyone. Ben still proudly treats his dog as if she were a beast and would get offended if you were to call her a sweetheart. Call Benji a cutie, and he will clamp his hands over her ears as if it was a swear word.

Struggles with empathy and sympathy and can unintentionally come off as harsh. Though, he can still be supportive IF told to.

Honestly Ben couldn’t care less about safety. He just respects Gio a lot. Otherwise, he would’ve not cared to pick pins off the floor for anyone’s sake or his own.
