Thatâs some heavy shit, and she can only even attempt to deal with things like that from her friends. Not that she has more than ten that are that close. Itâs embarrassing trying to get herself together enough to be comforting, and theyâre the only ones she knows wonât hold it against her. Not forever, at least.
âWell, Iâd try.â Thereâs nothing better to do with your last nights of freedom, anyway. âNothing wrong with pretending to, is there?â After she got married, there werenât many celebrations. Just being shown off. Then again, she could hardly complain about the lifestyle. âTry to! Itâs not like youâll have opportunities afterwards.â
It was embarrassing to speak of it. She had to put up and shut up, as her father said -- it wasn't her choice to make. It was his, and it was boost their reputation as well assuring the security of the eigth circle. That was all he cared about.
"Pretending to have fun? What is the point?" Fun was reserved for those who had something to be happy about. Perhaps she should be happy, this would give her a higher status, secure her role in the eigth circle as its future Duchess of Thieves. "What do you mean by afterwards?"
âClearly they did not.â Perhaps their earlier plan of hiding as literally in the shadows as they could manage would have been easier, but the vantage point is better here - even if the conversation is not. Staring away from her, they locate Lucifer in the crowd, barely narrow their eyes. âPerhaps next time they could send someone worth my time.â Miczariel is, and what happened was through no fault of her own; but thereâs little point to talking about her to those who wouldnât care. âMost agree with you.â It does get difficult when thereâs a few empty months with no-one to lead the reapers, but Kokabel loves to insist she can. âLike always.â Turning their gaze back on her, they cant their head an inch. âAre you here just to wish that I had died, or did you have another reason?â
"I'm here because I am your daughter-in-law, Samael." A wide, forced grin grows on her face. "You act as if my presence offends you. I am not here to wish you had died, now that would just be heartless of me." Smirking, she folds her arms. She had been called the term before, and it contrasted greatly to when she was young; then she had been the Duchess with too kind a heart. Despite everything between her and Samael, she preferred the Reaper greatly to her partner and father-in-law. At least with Samael she could have a stimulating conversation, even if it was just them biting at each other's throats. "Who would be worth your time, Samael? Hypothetically speaking. I hear you have some extrodinarily tough reapers."
7/8/9 for val
7. What is the biggest mistake theyâve ever made?
Letting her father control her life decisions.
8. What mistake(s) do they continue to make/have not learned from?
Being very emotionally guarded. She thinks it saves her from pain - it does not.
9. Name some of their major physical shortcomings.
Some would consider her height as she is extremely tall. Her eyes and the way she looks at people make her come off as harsh and cruel. Itâs just her resting face.

;15, 16, 17 maybe ???
15. How might they be ignorant or prejudiced?
Though she does have friends, and lovers who are Reapers, Val can be ignorant to their struggles and slightly prejudice toward them. Itâs internalised from her father, and the way she has been raised.Â
She also holds a slight prejudice against humans, but that is because she fears hunters.
16. Do they have any behaviors and/or beliefs that cannot be adequately justified?
She thinks murder is fun, but only when itâs her clients. She doesnât murder her own kind. (perhaps fun is the wrong word? itâs more acceptable in her eyes when itâs her human clients.)
17. When would they be too judgmental of someone or something?
When is she not too judgemental?

If so, how? 19. Is there anything they refuse to budge on? What are they stubborn about? 20. What is a self-inflicted misery of theirs? (i.e. something they perpetuate themselves)
It may have been too much to hope that after unceremoniously having an angel blade stuck in their back they could stay out of sight in the corner of the meeting chambers. So blame them - theyâre paranoid, and Lucifer being surrounded by people they donât know raises their hackles so soon after the event. They know why it happened, know that nothing will come after them, but it wonât hurt anything to shadow him for a while. âThey tried.â Being half a foot shorter or more than everyone they meet is getting tiresome. âI was sent back.â Or healed, as with this time, but itâs easier to drawl in a monotone than explain. âToo terrifying to stay, apparently.â
"I can believe that." Valefar watched them, her gaze cold. Small talk with her in-laws was... Painful, to say the least. "Well, clearly they didn't try hard enough." They were family, but family didn't mean she had to like them. For a second her eyes averted to gaze around the room, full of guests exchanging menial chatter. "I kid, Samael. It's so lovely to have you back alive and well." Lies. But what was the Duchess to do aside from lie? She had to keep them happy afterall. "Hopefully it shan't happen again, but then again if it did, you'd be back in no time. Like always."

Snorting, she shrugs. âGod -â she cuts off, raps on her chest, âcanât say that down here, forgot. Something knows itâs more of a fuckinâ curse than a name.â Half a shrug. âCanât remember what my sister was called, but âs probably longer than mine.â It was a long time ago, and she can almost let that not make her feel guilty. All of them went through this. âGoing by what some do, it seems more about being passive-aggressive anâ pretending to like people. Much easier to throw axes when yâ get pissed.â Frowning briefly, she tilts her head. âThought your lot didnât buy in to the whole bastard child thing?â Anders would be in something like trouble if they did, but itâs not something sheâs going to risk asking Samael. âStill, orgies are always fun to talk about.â Shrugging again, she leans her head against the wall. âNone taken. âs like -â she waves her hand. âItâs wild, âf thatâs enough. Thereâs no one way to describe it.â Half a grin. âYou go everywhere, though, Meet so many people. Constantly risking your unlife is worth it for us.â A pause. âAnâ, obviously, our parties are much better than these.â
Valefar shrugs. The name was a curse according to everyone in her life -- especially those who had fallen with Lucifer. "We shouldn't fear names, I feel it is foolish to." A pause. "But if what I hear is true, then we are right to fear Him. Or Her. Or Them." Who knew at this point? Valefar didn't know whether to laugh or offer her sympathies toward Meibe, it was probably a sensitive subject so she simply smiled and nodded. "Apparently they do. Baal will probably be made an Ambassador to cover it up, but they can never take my father's position. Instead I am going to. My sister will marry Meridit, and become so much more powerful than she already is." It was a seemingly scary thought, but she trusted Adremlech to make the right decision. Listening carefully, a small smile grew on the Duchess' face. "I wish I could go everywhere. And go to exciting parties. It would be so much better than attending these sort of things."
"-- Why aren't you dead yet?"
im crying i just found this icon and
look how beautiful that face is
âAlways a bright side, isnât there?â Ducking her head, she twists her fingers together behind her back. âI couldâve been called Vrykolakas or somethinâ, if I hadnât lucked out and died âstead of being a demon.â Or something equally as horrifying if sheâd let other people name her; itâd been close, after a few too many drinks. âBest ones are always one on one. âf you can prove your superiority, you can spend the next hundred years not shutting up about it.â A pause. âAs I learned. Never fight someone who files their teeth.â Tilting her head against the wall, she watches carefully. âDonât think anyone likes to admit theyâre wrong. Means other people have tâ force them to.â She huffs out a laugh. âWeâre here for politics, or somethinâ. I think itâs an excuse to make a scene anâ sneak off with people. âs all bullshit, unless youâre in on it.â She grins. âI know the feeling. âm just waiting âtil someone starts an orgy or a fight at one of these things. Itâs fuckinâ boring until then.â
"Always." A quiet laugh escaped her, it wasn't really a perspective she'd thought about before. "That's quite a mouthful... But then my sister is called Adremlech." Her sister was much more politically minded than she was. Her powers were stronger as well, but Valefar put that down to her having training (she was the oldest, afterall). "Politics is all about proving you're in the right, and in doing so you create a lot of enemies." It was a game as far as the Duchess was concerned. A game that caused death and destruction. Meibe's words made her laugh, much more than she had done inside the function. "You are quite right." She smiles. "The orgy will be started by Baal. He has quite the reputation for such things, but I guess that's because when you're the Duke's bastard, you don't have much of a reputation to protect." She could stand here and talk to Meibe all night, it was the most relaxed Valefar had felt all night. Her sister's arranged marriage was soon to take place, and Val found herself being married off. It was all politics. "What's it like? Being a reaper, I mean." A pause. "I mean no offence. I'm just... Curious."

Political functions are always more fun when Marian is there too, but Fenrir is just as good.
Sheâd be lying if she said she was here for the politics, but itâs fun regardless. Hell has such a tendency to leave valuables around - not that sheâd ever be able to sell them for anything, unless she bargained them off in another circle, but itâs the principle of the thing. What she can take, she does. And itâs fun.
Sidling up behind a demon - or something, but she canât be bothered to check - she reaches for another glass of whatever it is they have, grin sliding onto her face. They donât look particularly happy, she notices - but they do look pretty. Even if their dress is a little ridiculous.
If sheâs going to come to these things, she may as well enjoy herself.
âHaving fun?â Raising her eyebrows at them, she smiles, tilts her head. Half the valuables in the room are tucked into the pouches on her belt, more in Fenrirâs - she was running out of room and she needed somewhere to put them. âFor one of the ones who threw this travesty, youâd think youâd be enjoying it more.â
She's never liked these things. The young Duchess is put off from conversations, tonight; she's on her tiptoes constantly, trying to spot her - Cory. Where was Cory? It was off putting. Having someone that possessed her mind. Shaking her head, Valefar moves around the room, trying to act casually.
She feels out of place, she always does at these events. Clutching a glass of champagne, Valefar sipped at it, putting on another fake smile as one of her father's friends struck up a conversation with her. Rumours of her engagement to Proserpine were already floating round, and it was bothering her. She didn't want to be married -- not yet, at least.
Moving on, Valefar put down the now empty glass and sought out another. A voice in her ear distracted her. "Hmm?" She concentrated for a moment before it came back to her -- what they said, at least. "Not really." Valefar said, a polite smile gracing her face. "Would you be having fun if your father forced you here after announcing you're arranged to be married?" She sounded bitter. She didn't care, though. She wasn't in the mood to care.
