The last Thursday of every month usually means one thing for Teesside comedy fans – The Cutty Bang Cabaret Show! The comedy club brings a mix of some of the best alternative comedians on the circuit and brand new strange acts to Stockton. Add in a super luxurious venue together with one of the weirdest audiences around and you’ve got the perfect night out! "October's incarnation bring us 'Celebrity Seance' an evening of famous celebrities from the other side, haunted paintings and of course the best alternative comedians from Glasgow, Sheffield, Middlesbrough and Leeds. Gabriel Featherstone is a weird comedian from Glasgow. His hobbies include looking at things, listening to sounds and wandering around aimlessly for long periods of time. He also paints and sings. Featherstone started performing comedy on the Scottish Cabaret and Vaudeville circuit in 2015, and has since developed an enthusiastic cult following. His profound Glasgow Comedy Festival shows - "Carved from Ape" (2017) and "Whelk Ham Tomb Eye Toybox" (2018) - were seen and enjoyed by people. Stan Skinny is a poet, comedian and musician. He's won numerous poetry slams and is the current reigning champ of the Great Yorkshire show off competition for two years running. He's written 3 full length solo poetry comedy shows: Tesco chainstore massacre, Cyrano and An audience with Captain the Butcher Reality. A unique and experimental performer he combines music hall, with Ivor Cutler inspired poetry and Kauffman esque clowning. Off the Shelf has described him as Sheffield's tallest and funniest poet and they wouldn't lie. September brings us Mabon the time of the autumn equinox, and the harvest is winding down. The fields are nearly empty because the crops have been plucked and stored for the coming winter. Mabon is the mid-harvest festival, and it is when we take a few moments to honor the changing seasons, and celebrate the second harvest. Depending on your individual spiritual path, there are many different ways you can celebrate Mabon, but typically the focus is on either the second harvest aspect, or the balance between light and dark. This, after all, is the time when there is an equal amount of day and night. While we celebrate the gifts of the earth, we also accept that the soil is dying. We have food to eat, but the crops are brown and going dormant. Warmth is behind us, cold lies ahead. It is time to complete projects, to clear out and let go that which is no longer wanted or needed as we prepare for descent, so that the winter can offer a time for reflection and peace.
