Monty Ashwood || Twenty Four || Venom Production || Criminal ring leader and bartender at Angels and Kings
â Now tell the truth, darling â donât you love me in red? â
Where does a monsterâs story begin? Â For Monty, it began the same way heâs lived most of his life â alone. Â He has no recollection at all of any family. Â His earliest memories are of himself as a small child on his own in New York City, living on the streets. Â It takes a special type of child to survive in those conditions, and Monty quickly learned the tricks he needed to stay alive. Â Every moment was a battle, though, never able to rest out of fear for what may be approaching. Â It quickly became clear to young Monty that in order to survive, power was the key. Â His charismatic personality, visible even as a child, helped him gather a following of other âstreet ratsâ, and together they grew up. Â Monty had long been aware of his deadly abilities, and he managed to surround himself with those who had similar, seemingly impossible powers. As they reached their teen years, they stopped being a pack of children and instead became one of the cityâs most dangerous gangs, with Montyâs clever, cunning brain and cold smile at the throne. Â Of course, someone at that height attracts attention, and envy. Â Monty kept his seat of power until one night in his eighteenth year, when he was betrayed by his second in command and was led into a trap, landing himself in a high-security prison.
Thus began the chapter of Montyâs life as a prisoner. Â Heâd been listed as âvolatileâ, and the warden had been warned that he would escape easily if they ever slipped up, so he was automatically assigned to solitary confinement. He only ever had any prolonged contact with one other person â a young guard who usually brought him his meals. Â She liked Monty more than she should have, and often ended up talking to him about all of her problems. Â He would always set his face into a sympathetic expression and offer false words of flattery as she complained and occasionally cried. Â She soon fell in love with him, and he was sure to insinuate that her feelings were returned, until one day about a year after he arrived when she took pity on him and let him out of his cell without the tight chains that usually bound his hands and feet. In that instant, Monty had his arms wrapped around her, his teeth bared at her throat and her own gun pointed at her chest for extra measure. Â Using the girl as a hostage, he made his way out of the building, threatening to kill her someone came near. Â He was almost off the grounds when one of the other guards tried to shoot him â he blocked the shot with the girlâs body, then bit her for good measure before dropping her to the ground and fleeing. Â He didnât stop running for a long time. Â He couldnât return to his old gang in New York, that much was clear. Â Heâd heard rumors, though, about a safe space for people like him, in Nevada. Â It was a safe space before he arrived â it would not be for long once he got there.
Upon arriving in Crowns, nineteen year old Monty settled in quickly, and picked up a life very similar to the one heâd originally left behind. Â It was easy to find those who were scared, who were craving more than their fair share, and to turn them to his own advantage. Â Monty quickly climbed to the top of the townâs dirty underbelly, and thrived through both cunning and ruthlessness. Â Heâd play dirty, resorting to tricks such as capturing loved ones or slaughtering people in their sleep. Â He soon gained a reliable following of those who decided it would be better to be beneath him than in his way. Â Monty became a feared being, others only saying his name in a hushed whisper because you never knew who was one of his spies, and no one wanted to wake up to a cut-off limb or a family member missing. Â An organized criminal life sprang up in the years since heâs arrived, and Monty rules over it with an iron fist. Â He is sure to cut down anyone who think they can oppose or challenge him. Â Occasionally he gets bored, and will masquerade as an average â or, relatively average â young man in town. Â Heâs on one such kick at the moment, bartending at Angels and Kings for his own enjoyment, but still controlling the dark side of the city with the same cold stare and love of violence that he always has.
Monty is nothing if not charming. Â He is able to bend almost anyone to his will with a winning smile and a silver tongue, laced with false promises. Â Beneath the charismatic exterior, though, he is altogether a much darker individual. Â Having been self-reliant since birth, he is fundamentally selfish, with absolutely no empathy for others. Â Moreover, he is deeply sadistic and relishes in violence, loving nothing more than a long, drawn-out kill. Â Ice cold, he never lets anyone else close, and rules over his kingdom with an iron fist and a venomous grin.Â
P O W E R Â D E S C R I P T I O N
Produces a toxic venom that usually results in severe pain and temporary paralysis, or in more serious cases, coma and death. Â Usually transfers this venom through biting, but occasionally is able to do so via skin-on-skin contact. Â This takes more effort, however, and he prefers not to do so unless a stealthy kill is required. Â He prefers the ones that are bloody, though.
