Eddie’s anger screamed from him, the hunter unable to bite back his feelings anymore. His life had consisted of protecting Wil but he was tried of it, sick of having to put his own feelings to the side so that Wil could be happy. “Don’t give me that bullshit. There was another way. You should have called us first because a group of hunters have more of a chance than one. You knew, you fucking knew that you wouldn’t be able to beat him on your own but you went anyway. You’re not some god so stop acting like it!” Eddie sat up from where he was sitting, moved away from Wilburn as he paced. He couldn’t keep still, and Eddie didn’t trust himself to be near Wilburn with all this anger spilling from inside of him. At the mention of Eddie’s own family he turned to face Wilburn, “You do owe my family. You owe them a fucking lot and with every twist and turn you throw everything they did back at you. I know you’re family was killed, and it was tragic -- but you act like they’re the only family you’ve ever had, as though my family was just nothing to you.” Eddie pauses briefly and fixes Wilburn with a stern look, “You’re not to see or talk to my family ever again. I won’t let you keep breaking my parent’s hearts.” Mentioning Camryn did nothing for Eddie, there was no extra anger or sympathy for Wilburn -- Eddie was already too far gone. “Don’t bring Camryn into this, not when you are completely wrong. If it was Cam and I was in your shoes, I would have brought an army down on Malcolm because I’m not impulsive or as proud as you Wilburn. I would have ended it all there with Malcom’s dead body and my family safe. You think you’re deal with Malcolm is certain? He’s a known liar and manipulator. You and your family will never be safe.”

I’m prepared Miss Moser.

That’s fucking bullshit. Don’t you dare come and put that decision on my shoulders when it’s you -- the leader of our caravan -- who makes those decisions and executes them. You just want someone else to put him down for you because you don’t want to, because he was always you favourite. But the law is the law, and if you want to follow by it you do it. Because I’m not going to be your executioner to lessen your guilt.

When Eddie got the phone call he hadn’t known what to feel. Shocked had filled every space within him with a bitter coldness, rooting itself deep into his core. Yet, he never hesitated for a moment in dropping what he was doing to rush to the hospital. Eddie wasn’t sure how long he spent sat across from Wilburn’s hospital bed. He stopped looking at the clock when it became apparent that Wil wasn’t going to wake up from simply Eddie’s sheer will. When Wil did wake, Eddie stayed silent for some time before speaking up. “Sometimes I wonder if everything that my family has done for you -- everything that I’ve done for you -- has just meant nothing at all to you. We were never going to replace your family, but we wanted to be your family; we’ve been with you since day one. But this -- you running off once again, just shows me that not only do you not need us but you don’t even want us in your life. You just don’t care. And I am done putting everything aside for you, or supporting you through all of the stupid choices you continue to make. I hope this was worth it for you. I adore Cassie, but it’s clear that she’s the only family you consider in your life; not us.”

That’s not as easy as you make it sound, doc.
