two or more things, simultaneously, are often true. something i both understand, but have trouble remembering when i feel slighted, and am working on and through. i want to be understood, and as my understanding of myself continues to evolve — as i learn, relearn, and unlearn about myself — maybe there’s more grace i can extend as some seek to do the same. just a little.

it’s extremely disheartening to be misunderstood by the people who say they love you. it’s like being rendered invisible by those you’d believe would see you the most vividly. like i’m not in focus, but any attempt to add clarity is met with being told my edges are too sharp. what do you do when you feel like you can’t win for losing? what is love if you’re not really seen, just some blur of color and filled in assumptions? explaining myself is exhausting. trying is exhausting. i’m exhausted.
