Itâs taken from a recording of one of the West Memphis Three trials, which can be seen in the first documentary that documents the WM3 case; Paradise Lost: The Child Murders at Robin Hood Hills. You can find the full doc on youtube in two parts. The second part which contains the clip you are talking about is here. :)

Iâve never shared this publicly but as a very young kid I struggled with obsession compulsive behaviors that were brought on from a crippling fear I had of death, the darkness and all things âspookyâ. I would rationalize that if I were able to wash my hands enough times or run down the hall fast enough or count high enough quickly then I would in some way (donât ask me how) stop the monsters or villains in my mind from getting to me and Iâd be safe. This was something that was so constant and so difficult to deal with that I would completely withdraw from socialization with other kids and stay in my room..drawing, singing, creating. The odd thing is that despite my fear of the dark the only things Iâd ever find myself wanting to draw were bats, ghouls, ghosts etc. And because of my deep love of KISS and in particular the Demon character that Gene Simmons portrayed I always associated rock music with âscaryâ imagery and in some way it attracted me to it even more. I was 11 years old when I found the Misfits and it changed my life. Here were these ghouls dressed in all black with scary makeup and costumes and yet they sang with fun and often doo wop style melodiesâŚthe combination of these things together was so profound that it changed my entire psyche. It made the dark FUN. It made all that I feared something that I wanted to sing along with. The Misfits changed my life. A few days ago I was able to get onstage and sing with Jerry, Dez and Eric and to say it was one of the greatest moments of my life would be an understatement. It meant everything to me. I am still that kid that doesnât know exactly how to fit in and that is always made more obvious when the âpopularâ people (not unlike high school) poke fun at me or Black Veil BridesâŚin fact as I write this the singer in a band that many of you follow whom I donât know personally has continued on that bully style teasing on his social media, but because of bands like the Misfits I learned that itâs okay to be misunderstood and weird. Itâs okay to not always be well liked by your peers and itâs okay to sometimes be afraid of the unknownâŚoften the greatest among us find themselves in that darkness and that is where they create their finest art. Thank you Jerry, thank you Alternative Press and thank you to every one of you who reads this.
I wish you all a happy life, those who love me, hate me and in between because I know that have I found my way and it lead to me being on stage with my heroes, I know that you will all find yours as well.

Andy

MEET & GREET! Submit your meet-and-greet stories to [email protected]. They are posted throughout the week.
On October 5th, 2013 I met my favorite band, Black Veil Brides. When we arrived to the venue and started walking and saw the tour bus the anxiety left and there was the biggest smile on my face. As soon as I walked in I couldnât believe that they were there right I front of me. When it was my turn to meet them, I was speechless. They signed my cd and Andy thanked me. That meant the world to me because theyâve helped me through shit times and I never thought one of them would thank me for listening and loving the band. After that I met up with my friend and I just went for a hug I was bawling my eyes out. After they played me and my friend went outside. CC came out and signed stuff and he gave out wristband thingys and I got one. I had a drawing that I gave to him and he liked it. After waiting in the cold for about 3 hours Ashley, Jake, Jinxx and Andy came out and signed more stuff. That day meant the world to me because it was the day I met my heroes. They taught me to stand up for what I believe in. They taught me to be myself and they made me a better person. One of my dreams came true and I hope to meet them again.

They Don't Need to Understand Lyrics
The correct lyrics to âThey Donât Need to Understand,â by Andy Black, taken from his official facebook page:
Growing strong, the voice of my father said "donât give it up, donât be forgotten" This hell on earth, I just want to run away They told dreams donât grow from here. Stay alone, count your fears Somewhere down the line I might figure it out Singing all my songs to bedroom mirrors Deep inside my heart I am still here. Weâre always running away and we donât even stop to think about it The worlds in our hands They donât need to understand. We do it our own way, no matter what they try to say about about it. Weâve got our own plans They donât need to understand What made me tough almost killed me..at least thatâs how I remember the story. Over the years Iâve forgotten how it was But I survived and I wonât walk down the same old road that they all followed It only leads to a life not meant for me Weâre always running away and we donât even stop to think about it The worlds in our hands They donât need to understand. We do it our own way, no matter what they try to say about about it. The worlds in our hands And They donât need to understand Streets of my hometown seem strange now. They feel like a distant memory. Iâm always fightingâ cause I know youâre tryingâ but you can never take this dream from me. Weâre always running away and we donât even stop to think about it The worlds in our hands They donât need to understand. We do it our own way, no matter what they try to say about about it. The worlds in our hands And They donât need to understand

I couldnât be more proud of Andy. Artist have many sides to them that have a burning desire to be expressed. The lyrical content surpasses any genre of music. The intensity of passion can not be bound by whatever others may think or feel. It is a creative release by the individual artist. Some will understand and the others donât need to understand, itâs beyond their comprehension. A great song is a great song. I am excited to see where it all leads. I am a Metal Head and with that said, I love what has been accomplished. The world gets to see a different, but equally impressive side of AB that only friends and family had the privilege to know.

Hereâs more from Andy on this project and more info on Black Veil Brides fourth studio album, taken from Andy Blackâs facebook page:
A huge thank you to everyone who has checked out the video for my first song from my side project âŞ#âandyBLACKâŹÂ I have seen so many positive responses and kind..thoughtful messages. It means the world to me. TDNTU as well as the other songs from this project have been so much fun to write and I canât wait to share more with you all. I anticipated that some people wouldnât âget itâ and some people would be âworriedâ about my future etc. But to those of you who understand what I am trying to do and who also understand that this is in no way something that interferes with BVB I wanted to again say THANK YOU. You guys are so important to me and I love you with all my heart. Stay tuned for more info regarding #andyBLACK in the coming days and as always tons of updates aboutâŞ#âBVB4âŹÂ which is going so well. Side note for anyone concerned that BVB is changing our sound or âgoing softâ thatâs not accurate. In fact id say this new stuff is the heaviest stuff weâve done in a long time and my favorite record weâve ever made! Seeya soon! - AB
