look, ultimately I can’t really tell you how to feel or meaningfully change your stance on anything if you’re not open to it. but I’m also not going to change MY stance that you’re spreading state propaganda for free by echoing the most societally popular stance on veterans in USAmerica as though it’s a fresh hot take that makes you uniquely empathic in a way that I just somehow failed to consider. the conservative stance is that veterans are heroes, the liberal stance is that veterans are poor unfortunate souls who couldn’t have known better and must be redeemed. neither holds any water with me.
no one who has attempted to challenge me on this has really even mentioned the targets and victims of US military atrocities as real human people with lives and thoughts and experiences rather than simply a distant obstacle that these soldiers must overcome the guilt of murdering in order to get their schooling and healthcare. I think it is reasonable to be disgusted by that.
