in the medieval city of dema hesitation is a sin clancy was never meant to hesitate they taught him how to obey he was trained to root out heresy he just didn’t expect to find it in himself torchbearer comes back for him not because he has to but because leaving him there was worse he came back before there was nothing left worth saving clancy isn’t sure he was in time

In the medieval city of Dema ruled by a rigid, watchful church, Clancy serves as one of their enforcers. Raised to follow without question, to root out heresy and to believe that silence and control are forms of protection. Torchbearer (a former knight who escaped the same system) returns to pull Clancy out before he learns how not to hesitate.
