[SDV] "Late Term Cravings"
Summary: Anon does a good job of explaining what's going on here!
Warning(s): Nothing! Just general comfort and sweetness!
Side Note(s): Lol, it's been a minute since I've written anything— On one hand, SORRY ANON FOR THIS TAKING SO LONG, and on another hand, I'm using this and a couple other fics to slowly get back into writing 🙇♀️
Very sweet to you during the duration of your pregnancy.
At the beginning of your marriage, Sebastian was already a sweetheart in the way he was just gentle with you. He treated you and your needs as if you were porcelain and always checked in with you to see if there was anything he needed to do for you, or just did things in advance to help your workload!
However, when you became pregnant?
That already gentle disposition only increased tenfold.
Cleaning, cooking, and taking care of the farm—if you asked him to do it, then that's what he was focusing his attention on, no matter what he was focusing on previously!
Now that you're pregnant with his child, he doesn't want you to do any strenuous activities and wants to make sure that you're taking things as easy as you can be!
He makes sure that you take your vitamins, that you eat healthy meals, and the like. And even makes sure to fix your pillows on the bed to ensure that you're comfortable and happy, and that the baby isn't causing too much stress on your body.
Now, that being said—he becomes an even bigger sucker for you.
If you ask him for something sweet, then he's doing it, even if he knows that technically you shouldn't have it.
Late-night snack? Don't worry, he's already getting up out of his sleep to go and make it.
Oh, you want to go for a late-night bike ride?
Wellll he may not do that, but he'll definitely invest in researching online to see whether or not it's safe to take his pregnant spouse on a bike ride, and he'll get the necessary items to ensure your safety!
At the end of the day, Sebastian wants you to be safe and healthy during the pregnancy. He also wants you to be happy and not feel too restricted and risk feeling miserable.
This is a joyful time for both of you, and whatever he can do to continue to ensure that it remains that way, he's doing it!
♡ - Being pregnant wasn't easy in the slightest. You've been suffering from cramps, random hot flashes, and the occasional moment of accidentally tinkling yourself when your baby decided it was a good idea to fall asleep right where your bladder was!
But...you wouldn't have changed it for the entire world.
Sebastian was as doting as he had always been throughout your marriage of just one year. He had taken up the job of caring for the farm rather quickly, even if he was a little clumsy at times. He used his IT job to continue to pull in money, and when you were feeling energetic enough to take care of the farm yourself, he was practically glued to your side the entire time! Fetching things when you asked him to and even rushed back into town to get seeds when you required them.
Today, however, on a rainy night close to midnight, you neither needed seeds nor the watering can that you had accidentally forgotten on the porch, or even a chair because your ankles were suddenly feeling swollen.
What you really needed—was a nice and large meal. Preferably with some dessert afterward.
As you lay in bed, pillows tucked underneath your lower back early that night when you had complained to your husband that you were feeling sore, you looked over to your side at Sebastian before the edges of your lips cracked upward a little at the sight.
A twinge of guilt plucked at your heartstrings; you felt bad...being so demanding, requiring him to do more because you were unable to—well...more so because Sebastian didn't want you stressing yourself out during your pregnancy—as well as just generally needing more care.
But every time you voiced such a feeling, Sebastian was quick to tell you that he didn't mind and that he was more than happy to care for you. "It's nothing." He told you once. "You falling in love with me, us getting married...if taking care of you while you're pregnant is all I have to do, I'd do it a hundred times over."
Remembering those words gave you the confidence to gently shake Sebastian's arm, your husband slowly waking up with a groan as his eyes cracked open. "W-What is it...?" He sleepily asked, first wiping the small dribble of dried spit from the corner of his lips before wiping his eyes next. "Are you okay?" He added. "What's wrong?"
You shook your head. "I'm fine." You said. "I..." Before you could even finish your sentence, your stomach growled, and with it came the influx of ideas as to what you wanted to eat. You were thankful that you hadn't had any cravings for 'fish ice cream' or maybe 'pickles with syrup' on them. You wanted the normal stuff, just in larger quantities!
Sebastian looked at your stomach and back up to your face. "Can I have some breakfast? I'm thinking...six pancakes—oh! And make them real big, with eggs, bacon, and maybe some ice cream afterward?" Your husband sleepily chuckled at your request; the correct thing for him to do in this moment was to tell you that it was too late for you to eat and that you didn't want to spoil your appetite for tomorrow. After all, it was what Doctor Harvey had recommended for both of you!
Take your prenatal vitamins and no late night snacking to avoid unnecessary weight gain and other minor issues!
But...Sebastian just loved to spoil you.
Which is why Sebastian eventually got up and out of bed to walk to your side before he helped you up and into the living room, leaving you on the couch to begin cooking only after he was certain that you were comfortable in your spot on the couch. A relaxed sigh left your lips as you rested your back against the couch, your hands absentmindedly rubbing your stomach as you listened to the sounds of your husband moving about in the kitchen.
"We should start thinking of names, Sebby." You gently called to him.
He didn't say anything for a moment as he crouched down, his eyes glued on trying to find the milk until he finally found it. "A name?" He responded. "I thought we were waiting until the baby was born? You know...get a feel of how they are and what name suits them best."
"We still need a name, though! We can't just think of something on the spot!"
Sebastian snickered in response as he tried to think of a name. If he were being frank with himself...he didn't think he was the best when it came to names. And if he were being even more honest with himself, he wanted the baby to have something simple! Meaningful, yes, but simple and easy to remember! Then again, there were tons of names like that, and he didn't want the baby to have his name only with 'Jr' added right after it.
But as Sebastian continued to meet your words with thoughtful silence, you eventually decided to change the subject with a snort.
You assumed that the two of you would resolve that issue later on, then, hopefully.
"Are you hoping for a boy or a girl?" You thought to ask.
"Either is fine, really," Sebastian responded promptly. "This may sound cliché, but...so long as they're healthy. It doesn't matter; they'll have our features either way."
Your mouth opened to ask another question to pass the time, yet the smell of food—eggs and bacon...and the distinct sound of something being stirred—it only made your stomach growl even more, even making you go so far as to push yourself up a little to see over the back of the couch and into the kitchen. "It's almost done," Sebastian asked as if he could already sense you looking his way as he moved about the kitchen.
"Our baby is demanding." You joked. "A little bit longer, and they'll start kicking rather than making my stomach growl!"
Sebastian rolled his eyes. "Well, tell them to wait a little longer," He chuckled. "I'm almost done!"
He poured the eggs off of the pan and onto a plate before tossing them into the sink and then replacing it with a new one, using that new pan to pour the pancake batter onto while he focused on the bacon. While he would've preferred this not to have been at night, Sebastian was seeing this whole situation as good practice for how it probably would've been once the baby was actually born and old enough to start demanding pancakes in the morning! Oddly enough, there was a certain...joy to be found in rushing about the kitchen to make something that would ultimately feed his family.
And while he was not as good a cook as you were, he hoped that by the end of the pregnancy, he would at least be close to your skills in the kitchen.
Once everything had finished cooking, however, along with some small details such as pouring justtt enough syrup onto your pancakes, Sebastian nearly spun around with a proud, small smile present on his face as he walked up to you. "Done!" He said. "I hope you both like it, seeing as you were both so demanding."
You lightly pushed Sebastian's shoulder with a laugh as he placed the food down in front of you.
The smell and looks were heavenly, your eyes glazing over the plate in its entirety as you nearly waged war with your own brain as to what you wanted to tackle first. Except— "Where's my ice cream?" You pouted.
"After." Sebastian gently said.
'Maybe.' He thought to himself. A good husband had to put his foot down sometimes when it came to his spouse! And ice cream right after breakfast? That was too much! "Eat." He encouraged. "I want to know how I did."
You leaned forward to take a bite of your food, chewing it playfully slowly to taste the food as if you were some critic. But the way the flavor bloomed on your tongue...the combination of the syrup and then the follow-up bites of the eggs and bacon? You could hardly voice your compliments, much less a quick 'Thanks' before you started to devour the food with an urgency that could only be matched by someone who had been starved for months.
And watching you eat his food with that much happiness...Sebastian silently put this moment into the back of his head to cherish forever.
