"Needy, unable to cope" (<- you try coping with chronic pain)

"Comfort seeking" (<- you mean.. having a preference for not being in pain.. how criminal)

"States he’s level 10 pain, but does not appear to be in pain (or ‘5= on appearance)." (<- it is well-known that chronic pain patients tend not to display pain in the same way as acute pain patients)

"Dramatic response to pain" (<- notice how this directly contradicts the comment above. you cannot win)

"Gets IV med, then leaves unit to smoke or walk around" (<- wow requiring medication and then going off to do something you needed pain meds to be able to do is so suspicious)

To anyone who isn’t an Islamist (so, AES and most of his audience in the West), sharia has nothing to do with trying to implement Taliban-style control or Islam on a local/state/national governmental level; it’s just the religious commandments of Islam. It is to Islam what halacha is to Judaism. US muslims have sharia courts like we beit din, to make religious judgments and settle intracommunity disputes.

The law in question was extremely vague, completely useless, & unnecessary. We already have laws that prevent the establishment of religion. It’s called the 1st amendment. The only thing the law accomplished was encoding in law a disdain & fear of Muslim religious doctrine—itself a violation of the 1st amendment—and it was struck down for exactly that reason.

I was reading one story where the apocalypse was impossibly-rising oceans. Like, water is appearing from *waves hand* the Earth's crust or something, and literally all dry surface land on Earth is going to become underwater in X years. Part of the story was about a giant research project to invent FTL to send a few hundred humans to a nearby star which might have a habitable planet. You know what they were hoping to find? A planet with liquid water. Their plan was to descend from their starship and restart civilization using just the tools they brought with them, on a world with no life and no breathable air and the wrong gravity and the wrong temperate and the wrong sunlight and the wrong day-night cycle, just because it had liquid water. You know where else has liquid water? The flooded Earth you just abandoned. Instead of researching starship technology, you could have spent that time loading up all the same civilization-restarter tools into boats.
