MOSI Project

Overall I am happy with my work on this project. I think it has developed my skills in Photoshop, After Effects and Premiere Pro. Personally dislike the blue propeller poster however they are sure to grab your attention.

If I were to do this project again I would spend more time on the practitioners list to see how other artists tackle posters.

I also like my invites. I think they are short and simple. Gets straight to the point and could easily be distributed due to their size. Could be an insert in a newspaper or handed out to the public in Manchester shopping areas.

For my extended project, I enjoyed making the video however felt it could have been improved if I recorded the footage myself. The quality would have been higher and the end result would be more cinematic. However, i think it works well as an abstract promotional video to grab people's attention whether it be via a social media advert/campaign or one a TV outside the museum reception

I feel working three projects at once has been new to me. I normally get set a task, complete it then move on. This tested me well and I think I handled all three with equal effort.

In the first week of the brief I started out by researching what the museum had to offer for the time periods we were given in the brief. At first I discovered the Roe Triplane created in 1909. This was the first all British Plane to take to the skies on the 23rd of July 1909. I later visited the Air and Space hall within MOSI to learn more about the plane and look for inspiration on the plane to incorporate into my poster. 

For my second poster I discovered Stephenson’s Rocket which was finally back in Manchester after 180 years so felt it would be a great pull factor for people to visit the exhibition. After visiting MOSI I decided it would be great to use the large front wheel of the rocket within my poster design.

The purpose of this brief was to create promotional content in the form of posters and invites to encourage people to visit an upcoming exhibition that was to be held at the Museum of Science and Industry (MOSI) made to celebrate the development of the city from its First Industrial Revolution in the late 1700s to the second Industrial Revelation post the events of 1996 in developing Manchester’s Digital Revolution

The requirements for this brief was to create three posters with limited text information alongside a handout invite or leaflet to the exhibition. Above this is extended item material which could range from a video piece to an app or website.

Found these whilst talking to Mark about my brand idea. The use of the Einstein’s relaxer theme within the Momentum type is a good idea which I’d like to incorporate into a poster. 

Research on Freddie Williams, shows his work on Radar systems, The top photo is the same radar shown in MOSI so would be good to recreate in After Effects to add to my poster.
