April’s Pink Supermoon in Scorpio: Emotional Purging ♏
“Suffering, if allowed and accepted, has the potential to facilitate transformation and, subsequently, to release from pain.”
Scorpio is the most passionate sign of the zodiac — in this sign, the transiting Moon is taken to a deeper, darker place.
Passion has many meanings: it can be a powerful emotion (strong anger or joy), a state of sexual desire or love, or agony and suffering (think of the Passion of Jesus). And this supermoon in Scorpio will certainly ignite some type of passion in all of us.
At 7° Scorpio, the transiting Moon falls in Swati Nakshatra (Vedic Lunar Mansion), also known as the fixed star Arcturus. Arcturus is very apt at dealing with the darker aspects of life on Earth (which eerily correlates with India’s current devastating 2nd wave of COVID).
As the Moon transits through Scorpio and Arcturus, you may feel compelled to retreat inward into stillness, darkness, and contemplation; such as contemplation on the fragility of life and death, and the meaning of our existence.
Ruled by Mars and Pluto, Scorpio is nocturnal and passive, tending towards extremes. The Moon is traditionally said to be in Fall in Scorpio because it’s excessive rather than moderate in nature. In other words, the Moon’s sensitivity is extra heightened in Scorpio, making the otherwise nurturing and comfort-seeking Moon feel out of place and out of control.
The key to overcoming that feeling lies in cultivating compassion for oneself as well as all sentient beings, and finding a middle ground — a sort of balance between extremes — as described by the Buddha (who, by the way, was also born on a Full Moon in Scorpio).
As a typical Scorpio Moon, the Buddha studied the nature and treatment of human suffering. When his disciples inquired about the root of suffering, the Buddha replied that unhealthy attachment is really the root of all suffering, for example:
Attachment to all or nothing thinking. Attachment to our belongings and possessions (including loved ones). Attachment to extreme views and methods. And so on and so on.
It is said that the karmic lesson of the Scorpio Moon is to learn self-reliance and release unhealthy attachments. And, I believe the same thing applies to April’s supermoon in Scorpio.
Since the energy of a Full Moon lasts about 2 weeks, you can use this time to practice mindfulness and compassion. Learn to listen to your inner voice and follow your intuition. Retreat inward to regain clarity and self-control. Own your power and inner strength, and embrace emotional purging.
And, most importantly, let go of anger and pain, and free your mind from limitations.
“All conditioned things are impermanent — when one sees this with wisdom, one turns away from suffering.”
— The Buddha

While Mars in Domicile (Aries) prefers using its energy to fight and move forward, transiting Mars in Cancer prefers using its energy to nurture and protect.
Mars’ aggression and assertiveness become passive and internalized in Cardinal Water. Collectively, we are more likely to act on instinct at this time to ensure emotional security and protection.
The reactive Mars in Cancer tends to fight for what it’s most emotionally connected to. In other words, if we don’t feel emotionally connected to something, we’re unlikely to take action during this transit.
Battling feelings of helplessness may be exacerbated by the square to Neptune, and we may feel overwhelmed (trine to Jupiter) in the face of what’s happening.
With Mars in Cancer, the reality of pandemic and Zoom fatigue will also set in. Tired and drained from all the uncertainty over things that are out of our control, most of us will retreat into our shells, and seek comfort and security among those closest to us.
Don’t be too hard on yourself or your loved ones while Mars transits through Cancer. Remember — it’s okay to feel your feelings. It’s okay to not be okay. Don’t beat yourself up. This, too, shall pass.

This year’s Taurus Season is quite unusual: we have several planets (Venus, Mercury and the Sun) conjunct Uranus, the planet of revolution.
What does this mean for us on a collective level?
We’re all going to experience radical changes and surprises in our personal relationships (Venus) and communication (Mercury). Uranus is associated with disruption of established social orders. The planet will challenge us to re-evaluate everything we know on the physical plane, making us re-evaluate our place in this world (Sun) as well as our attachments, values, and self-worth.
Uranus’ futuristic qualities will have us looking to the future while re-evaluating our existing connections. Where Saturn in Aquarius seeks to structure and stabilize or restrict what it touches, Uranus tends to disrupt (some would say liberate) it.

Mercury has now joined the Sun, Venus & Chiron in Aries.
This Cardinal Fire Stellium 🔥 screams of impulsive energy—a tendency to act on a whim, often without thinking.
Behavior that exhibits less forethought, reflection, or consideration of the consequences will be at the forefront until April 19.
Expect the unexpected with this transit as it brings rushed decisions, sudden or quick news, heated communication, more action, arguments, disagreements, or conflict. It’ll be easy to lose your cool at this time, so stay mindful.
While this transit is great for taking action and moving things forward, it is important not to rush anything or jump to conclusions before thinking things through.
Mercury is literally going to get scorched by the Sun in the coming weeks. Do not act on an impulse when Mercury is combust by the Sun in Aries!

In the Hellenistic world, magical gemstones were used as markers for the planets.
During astrological consultations, ancient astrologers used stones engraved with names or figures of the planetary gods to represent the planets. The stones allowed the astrologer to call upon the divine associations of the planets.
And, if each stone was made of the substance proper to its planet, this allowed the astrologer to invoke the magical properties of the stones themselves.
An Egyptian papyrus of the 2nd or 3rd century A.D. mentions planetary gemstone associations: Sun - gold, Moon - silver, Saturn - obsidian, Mars - reddish onyx, Venus - lapis lazuli veined with gold, Mercury - turquoise, Jupiter - crystalline.
Another text (Alexander Romance) makes the following associations: Sun - crystal, Moon - adamant, Mars - hematite (bloodstone), Mercury - a green stone, Jupiter - air-stone, Venus - lapis lazuli, Saturn - serpentine.
"An astrological consultation in 2nd century Egypt must have been a psychologically powerful experience. One entered a dark chamber of the temple, illuminated by a flickering lamp that might be decorated with images of the Moon and stars and the face of Sarapis. In the small circle of light lay the astrologer's board, made of marble or of ivory and gold, engraved with numbers, sacred names, and the figures of the zodiac signs. The priest was austere and impressive with the golden seven-rayed star of Sarapis on his diadem. Then he took out a small casket or box, perhaps of ivory. Opening it, he poured out the colored stones, engraved with magical signs and the names and images of the planetary gods."

The biggest misconception people (and even astrologers) have about ☊ Rahu (North Node) and ☋ Ketu (South Node) is that you need to "move away" from Ketu and "fully embrace" your Rahu because Ketu signifies the past and Rahu signifies the future.
However, this is a misguided understanding of the Rahu-Ketu polarity. You cannot ever truly "move away" from something in your chart. It's always going to be there—it's part of who YOU are. You aren't supposed to discard your South Node just because it represents the past. The past (Ketu) shapes the present and the present shapes the future (Rahu).
To unlock the potential of BOTH Rahu-Ketu in your chart, you need to first realize that you don't need to balance the two because they're NOT contradictory. In fact, they can (and should) be mutually supportive. That's the whole key to solving the Rahu-Ketu riddle.
You need to find a way to synthesize that polarity.
For example, I have Rahu in Pisces and Ketu in Virgo. That doesn't mean that I need to stop being practical, realistic and analytical. What it actually means for me is that I need to learn how to harmonize the practical (Virgo) and the ideological (Pisces).
In other words, my challenge is mainly to discover how to make my abstract interests (Pisces) generate tangible results (Virgo) and contribute to solving my daily, real-world problems and needs.
Dreams are not antithetical to daily realities. Imagination and creative thought are not antithetical to maths and logic. Imagination lacks detail and specificity if we do not work to give it practical shape in the tangible world. The tangible world, conversely, will be dull and unimportant without being empowered by imagination.
