Welcome To The Rift

((So, if you're paying attention, you may notice that some information regarding the nature of Ruby's world is gone. It's been deleted and will not be reposted due to the fact that I've had a sudden realization that I'm likely in for a royal mental breakdown if anyone uses it and writes my novel before I do. 

As such, any and all information revealed will be solely through RP and then, mostly not with a terribly large amount of background. 

How Ruby had managed to get herself sorted out well enough to survive on her own the past few days was a mystery. The magician had never been the best planner in the group, that was Liam, or the most willing to do whatever had to be done, that was Lya. Truth be told, she was attributing the majority of it to some ridiculous ability to improvise and sheer dumb luck. It was probably more dumb luck than anything, considering what she was. 

Despite the incredible lengths she'd gone through to make her hiding spot a secure and comfortable place for herself, it was very far from demon-proof. The dead hadn't posed nearly as much of a problem as the larger creatures that would like to take a bite out of her. After taking a pretty heavy hit from one of them, she'd had to move on. 

Without a place to stay, her sources of security were limited to a small gun at her side, extra bullets, and of course her magic, which she'd promised not to use unless she really got into a pinch. Finding somewhere by nightfall would be the best thing that could happen to her. Less visibility was sure to set her even more on edge and make her an even poorer shot than she already was. 

"Well, how do you know it's that big an issue?" the magician asked, shifting her grip on the phone slightly.

If Liam was here, he would have thrown a fit upon seeing her trying to drive and talk at the same time and likely would have demanded the wheel. Of course, given that their travels together began when she'd accidentally grazed him with her mother's car, he had more to support his argument than most had. Then again, the man had also shot out of nowhere without a warning at such a speed that she likely wouldn't have stopped in time even if she had been focused. 

"It's a spirit," she grumbled into the phone, "An animal ghost."

It had been like this day in and day out for months. She'd thought she'd learned her lesson about doing this after the incident with Liam, but what was she supposed to do when she was pulling triple duty with school, a part-time job, and being a magician. She'd been hoping to get some rest this afternoon, but of course as soon as she'd pulled out of the school parking lot, Dakota had given her a call about the supernatural issue.

"It's meowing at you. Well, that is a major problem, isn't it?" she sighed, "What do you think you should do about it? How about you make dog sounds?" Ruby rolled her eyes. "Well, I'm sorry I'm being unpleasant this afternoon, but I still have to go to work, you know. Just leave it alone for right now if it's not bothering yo-- SHIT!"

The magician slammed on brakes as she noticed someone crossing the road. Her attention then fully returned to the task at hand and she climbed out of the diver's seat and slammed the door behind her. 

((I may be offline for a good part of the month. I'll be popping in every so often to check any replies or asks, but I live out in a field and therefore have to either use a hotspot that only allows me ten gigs a month, or have no internet at all. (I shouldn't even be on Tumblr, honestly...). I'm running on twenty five percent of that now. So just be aware that if I disappear, I've hit my limit. If you see me on for an extended period of time, I'm probably at a coffee shop.

My friend/favorite RP partner just told me she's taking a two week hiatus.

Anyway, I have a few, actually. Most of them relating to her back story, but a few could go for the general personality.

"Imaginary" by Evanescence (her tendency to be spacey and try to retreat into her head when she’s feeling overwhelmed.)

I’d say that “Monster” by Imagine dragons would fit well in explaining her opinion of being a magician. 

And then for more of a back-story related thing, I’d go with “Red Like Roses” from RWBY. Or “The Gray” by Icon for Hire.
