Transformers One Review

Transformers has always been my favorite cartoon. I’ve watched most of the Transformers series. All of the Generation One 1984 series, all of Beast Wars, most of the last iterations of it. This movie ties many of the pieces of the lore and offers us a retelling of the origins of this franchise.

The action is decent. The motivations are believable. The story is a good example of mixing the lore up just enough to feel fresh but not to stray from the original canon. Orion Pax is portrayed well. Megatron is played well. Bubblebee is a different take on the character but played as the comical relief.

I will readily admit that for the most part I don’t like Tyler Perry Movies. Either they are too cheesy or the technically the sound isn’t good. Not bashing his movies. I laugh at the Madea movies. I haven’t watched them all but they have been funny. But his soundtrack is often lacking.

Now that said. This movie here. This movie here. Is the absolute best movie Tyler Perry has directed. Yes it’s formulaic. But it is a well scripted movie. Well acted, well placed visuals, the sound design is good. Tyler Perry’s direction The Six Triple Eight is superb.

The subject matter is one that we don’t often see in films. Black women in the military!!!! I watch movies all of the time. How many films can you name that has a black woman lead in a leadership in the military? I currently don’t have any that comes to my mind. This is often an over looked genre for black women.

I have waited to see Ryan Cooglers latest film. Finally got a chance to see this film and I enjoyed it.

Going into it I knew it would be a vampire film. Getting into it I knew it would be more than just a horror film.

As is most of his films there is meaning deeper than the genre itself.

Premise brothers return home to open a business. They open it with success but then they are faced with a supernatural threat.
