23-year-old Elton John’s 2nd studio album was released on 10 April 1970 (it was his first release in the US).
According to producer Gus Dudgeon, Elton and Bernie Taupin hired Paul Buckmaster to provide the arrangements because they liked his work on David Bowie’s “Space Oddity” (1969). George Martin was offered to produce the sessions, but he agreed only if he could do the arrangements. Elton and Taupin stuck with Buckmaster and hired Dudgeon (who had also produced “Space Oddity”).
Supported by the Top Ten hit “Your Song,” the self-titled album peaked at #4 in the US and #5 in the UK.

Comical Q&A when Burgess was a mystery guest on What’s My Line? (April 23rd, 1970)
Burgess had the most wonderful sense of humor, that I personally feel was rarely showcased in his work on television or film.
The only fan page solely dedicated to Burgess Meredith // Lovingly ran by his granddaughter in attempt to keep his legacy alive.
