Claire felt as though she had only drifted off for mere minutes, but as her head snapped up from the various groans and commotion coming from the injured man, it appeared as though he was healing himself. âWellâŚThat would have been useful to use before you got yourself in this mess, hm?â Her voice was oddly sweet; a mix of bemusement and concern as she admired the silvery light coming from his hand. A man like him could use the same magic as her? âBut yes, my name is Claire. IâŚhave to admit, I was reluctant to use my healing magic last night to aid you more easilyâŚmy father is unaware that I have been studying the arcane magic, and should he find out, it would be unlikely that I would be doing much of anything for the rest of my days. He isâŚmore than protective of me after all weâve suffered.â Her golden eyes threatened to spill tears, but after wiping them away with the hem of her dress she assisted Spencer in sitting up before her hand started to warm his backside.Â
A glowing green magic similar to the color of her hair lit up his backside, slowly healing the remainder of his wounds with a touch equal to the warmth of a summer breeze. Once she had expended her spell, the woman lifted his shirt slightly before pulling her hands away with a sudden blush. âAh, i-if youâll show me if theyâre healedâŚ? AndâŚI uh, Iâm sorry, I donât recall ever seeing you before. ButâŚif you need to rest here, youâre more than welcome. Iâd like to ask for a trade, though if youâll humor me? Trading my bed to you for the chance to patch and repair your armor? Iâd love to keep that metalwork intact, the embellishment is exquisite.~â She had the expression of a child on christmas at the prospect of continuing to help this man. She was rather adorable. @the-starshooter
Spencer met Claire's gaze quizzically as he raised his shirt, baring his back to her. "In exchange for stealing your bed, you'd fix my armor? It feels like I'm taking advantage of your hospitality. At least let me pay for the repairs. I insist."
"As to your magic, you don't have any formal training do you? What I was doing wasn't healing, though I see how it could've appeared so. No, that was time magic. I accelerated the natural healing process at the cost of slightly aging my body. One of the riskiest and most difficult magic schools there is."
He leaned back and sighed, eyeing the girl up and down. "I would've been more than happy to do this earlier but I was tapped for spells. I'm a...protector of sorts I guess you could say. I work for the lord of this region, seeking out evil presences and creatures and eradicating them, as well as research and exploratory work when things are quieter. I was nearby hunting down a cult that was rumored to be trying to bring back an evil giant skeleton. I managed to track them down and delay the ritual, but they had staged guns on the perimeter as a defense, and I got hit before I could get inside and finish the job.
An idea struck him then, unorthodox and risky to be sure, but there still might be a chance to accomplish his task before the resurrection and inevitable carnage thereafter began. He hadn't once failed a mission before, and was determined not to fail Dalton now. "What kind of arcane magic did you say you know?"
