Don't @ me about Tolkien racism. Again, I already know and I'll one day be writing up an entire essay about racism in TTRPG which, ultimately, has its roots in Tolkien novels.

There's now 2100 words sitting in that mini journal in my work pants.

I know it's been like three years since I published a new chapter of TM and every several months I write some shit-ass post about how I've started writing again but actually yeah, there's 1600 in new paragraphs sitting in a mini journal in my work pants because my new job consists of a minimum 3 hours of abject boredom at a register at the tail of every shift and I'm setting up the pieces for the climactic boss fight so... Yeah.

When I'm working on TM rather than writing crap for my d&d campaign (or other self indulgent fiction) I can put in between 300 and 700 words in a sitting.

So there's roughly 6,000 words so far in the next chapter. I don't have a goal word count in mind, rather I have a set of scenes\events to complete as a goal so... My best guess is that it'll probably cap out at 10k. Idk we'll see if the habit sticks.

I did some organizational work today on TM and stories that'll follow it, however, that may also mean some changes to the work sitting on AO3.

All the material I have really does encompass one large story so I may change the AO3 title to The Six Realms and have each story function as an arc in one massive easy to find volume on AO3.

SO far there are 13 possible stories to be told with their own working titles, some of which are spinoff stories because they either take place after or too far removed from the primary conflict to fit into the main titles cleanly.

Main Titles as follows, perhaps not exactly in this order:

Touch Me (Vulmon and Dewy)

Know me (Idrilli and Konkor)

Fear Me (Oburi and Kolkat)

See Me (Gantra and Tiffany)

Mind Me (Korg and Faldren)

Follow Me (Boris and Corbin: Adoptive Dad Adventure)

Obey Me (Onvyr: Royal Court Drama)

Remember Me (Series finale. Brings all previous books and characters together for the final confrontation)

Titles of Spin-off stories in no particular order:

The Bloodied Sun (Vampires. Deals with walking the grey between good and evil.)

The Parasite (A story that is not about but coincidentally provides a little background on Thulgethra and the creation of the elementals.)

The Dark Ones (The whole huge evil black dragon situation.)

The Dragon Of The Dominion Court (Onvyr's story from orphan to Supreme General.)

The Lioness Of House Hylo (Onvyr's missing elder sister.)

So work on character and story development has been happening, just not exactly in a linear fashion. I will be trying to dictate on TM today. It's a very Boris and Corbin centric chapter right now. Thanks for listening.

Random linguistic worldbuilding: A language with six sets of pronouns, which are set by one's current state of existence. There's a separate pronoun for people who are alive, people who are dead, and potential future people who are yet to be born, and the ambiguous ones of "may or may not be alive or aleady dead", "may or may not have even been born yet", and the ultimate general/ambiguous all-covering one that covers all ambiguous states.

The culture has a specific defined term for that tragic span of time when a widow keeps accidentally referring to their spouse with living pronouns. New parents-to-be dropping the happy surprise news of a pregnancy by referring to their future child with the "is yet to be born" pronoun instead of a more ambiguous one and waiting for the "wait what did you just say?" reactions.

Someone jokingly referring to themselves with the dead person pronouns just to highlight how horrible their current hangover is. A notorious aspiring ladies' man who keeps trying to pursue women in their 20s despite of approaching middle age fails to notice the insult when someone asks him when he's planning to get married, and uses the pronoun that implies that his ideal future bride may not even be born yet.

A mother whose young adult child just moved away from home for the first time, who continues to dramatically refer to their child with "may or may not be already dead" until the aforementioned child replies to her on facebook like "ma stop telling people I'm dead" and having her respond with "well how could I possibly know that when you don't even write to us? >:,C"

To add on to my post on the graveyard sex scene, I wanted to touch on Astarion’s specific line “if a night of passion is on offer, I could be persuaded :3”

I saw a lot of people disappointed with it, wanting very understandably for Astarion to demonstrate clear enthusiasm and desire on his part. I totally get that. But the way I’ve come to think of it (especially if this was a spur-of-the-moment decision) is that Astarion has like, barely even started working through his relationship with intimacy. He does want this, but that doesn’t negate his trauma and the hangups he has around sex. Maybe his roundabout way of asking feels safer than putting himself right out there and declaring he wants to make love because he’s wrestling with doubt; specifically, that with his past, maybe it’s laughable for him to ever think he can have honest, vulnerable sex. His path to greater security in intimacy is going to be long and messy, so it’s understandable on this very first step he’s still couching his asks in ways that might protect his feelings.
